Let's keep in mind a tender is an offer and protects the team specifically for that player. The USHL gives each team 2 tenders to use on players. Boisvert is not necessarily going to the USHL, although highly probable that he stays in the US, but if he does he has to go to the Lumberjacks. Teams in the Q, specifically the financially strong ones will probably put in a pitch (cash incentive) to get him in the Q. This is far from over.

Sasha Boisvert and Tyler Wood have many similarities, same size, both centers, elite skaters and exceptional 1 vs 1 skills, Tyler Wood is the most physical of the 2. I wonder if he's going the NCAA route as well?

I have Wood 7th on my overall list. Very smart player. No clue where he intends to play however.

Just another reason the Gatorade challenge has to happen to let scouts see players playing with their peers not playing vs 06s in a prep league while others are playing vs players two years older.

To be honest, I don't ever really care about opposition when scouting. I care about the skillset of the player I'm watching. I'm confident Wood would torch NBPEI U18.

Also, the U15 league Wood plays in is probably stronger than half the NBPEI teams imo. Talent level is much much higher but physical maturity is obviously a bit lower.

Well said Wintersun. Tourching U18, that may be a bit of a stretch, but he would be doing very well.
We see a lot of comments on this board about playing vs your own age group or vs players 2 years older. It has little to do with age and everything to do with skill, speed, IQ. All things being equal the 17 year old should dominate...the problem is, in NB, NS, PEI most 17 year olds are not dominating, it's the 15's and 16's leading the way. For the most part people don't understand the caliber of hockey in the top end U.S. Prep....forget age and look at the talent.

I had the same debate with people when I had Jordan Dumais top 3 and now he's torching the Q at 17. Whatever. Talent is talent, doesn't matter if you play against elite 15 years old or decent 16 years old.

Point taken, but Dumais was almost a full PPG higher at the same age at Selects Acad, I can't put Wood in that category just yet, but he is very good.
That Selects team was good...Goyette, Dumais , Rozzi.

No way you feel the same after Quebec tournament. Hopefully it happens and all are there. As far as 17 yr olds in the PEI/NB leagues you have most high ends playing Q or MHL. There are still some strong ones though. 16 yr olds you have most of the strong ones but the elite few are in Q. Then you have your 15 yr olds that are very strong. You have the guys that will be elite but they are also fighting for some ice time and opportunity vs second and third years. Some of the strong ones still find ways to contribute though.

Minor Midget GTHL is a 15U league as well and players dont play against older players until the move to the OHL. Seems to work there, Yes population is different but playing in age group doesnt seem to hurt those kids. Also MacDonald and Plandowski drafted to the NHL, both played 15U

Apologies, my last list had a couple of typos and copy paste problems. That’s what I get for using my phone. Glad it got the conversation happening though. I will correct my list when I get to my computer again

UPDATE: Corrected my list in the original post - I definitely missed a few

Great analogy on the GTHL, I believe Canada and the US differ on what was once minor midget....U16 in Canada = U15 in the U.S.

@Wintersun
Remember same time last year, you had this post. Just curious, you have a post for 2023 qmjhl draft soon?

You usually start the thread around 18 months before the draft. Carrier and Huang at the top of my list for Québec players.
Kilfoil (St.John) who is playing in the U.S and Wheeler who is playing U18 would have to be at the top of the list for NB. I really like Luke Sinclair out of CB and Rhyno who reminds me of Justin Poirier from the 2006 crop..a pure goal scorer.
But lets not get to deep into the 07 group on this thread.

You won't find me disagreeing with these 2, they are my two favorites to be honest but I'm not sure they are the 2 best. Lecompte, Morin, Desnoyers in the top pack with Carrier and Huang as well for me, Amyot not too far behind with a few others.

I agree that some others may be in front and espescially those who already play M18AAA. I should have said they were my two favorites and not necessarly the front runners.

Heard through the grapevine there will be a prep tournament at RNS next weekend. Should be interesting to watch some 06’s.
