There's no doubt in my mind that Philly is trying to move heaven and earth to make the space available, regardless of what we've heard about Philly being out, and Johnny and his agent know this. You've got two offers, easily distinguishable between the two to be able to make a decision and you still haven't yet. You've got two offers out there that tells Philly exactly what they'll need to get rid of in order for him to sign there.
.
He's waiting on Philly.

BTW why the hell did the Devils have to have their development camp this week? I was considering going to the 3-on-3 or whatever it is they're having tonight but there's no way I'm going there while waiting on pins and needles wondering if we get JG/Palat/whomever.

If Gaudreau is hemming and hawing to allow PHI to open the cap space I'd give him until the end of tonight to finish the contract and then move on. I'm sick of NJ being a team used by others.
They could just be figuring out the structure of the contract honestly. If I were him I would want it front loaded as much as possible per the CBA

So O'Neill is 46 according to google. He has a nice head of hair and the swagger that goes with being a former NHL player but good gravy, he's not rocking that earring. it's like the guy over 50 wearing the skinny suit with flood pants and no socks. At some point you just have to move on from your youth.

Why the hell would Philly sign two MORE guys today though if they were still actually in on Gaudreau?

he's the best free agent in the class, he's got multiple suitors, there's absolutely zero reason for him to rush to a decision. it's annoying but taking it as A SIGN or anything is a little too my filling pick up CIA transmissions.

maybe he signs with us, maybe he doesn't. don't try and divine meaning from the ether

If Gaudreau does not agree to an offer soon, the Devils should at least consider shifting gears and signing Palat and Niederreiter. Ship out Johnsson and Tatar and Ty Smith, and combined with the addition of Vanicek to stabilize the situation in goal, the Devils should be on the playoff bubble next year.
