The Devils must have a policy of getting every t crossed and i dotted before announcing things.
As well they should, I still shudder over the way the Mets fubared the Carlos Gomez trade at the deadline in 2015 after it was announced, even if they lucked their way into a much better trade because of it.

The longer this goes on, the more I fear Philthy swoops in and nabs JG.
Philadelphia's management is godawful. They refuse to add a pick in order to ship out the Van Riemsdyk contract, just days after sending 3 picks to Carolina for defensive horror show/lousy human Tony DeAngelo. Two of those picks would have been enough to get rid of the JVR contract and give them enough money to sign Gaudreau.

Reportedly, Gaudreau contacted the Flyers as soon as free agency opened and said he wanted to play there even if it meant slightly less than he could get on the open market, and Philly essentially said no.

So, in a nutshell, Philly opted for this:
James Van Riemsdyk at $7 million
Tony DeAngelo at $5 million
trading 3 picks

Over this:
Johnny Gaudreau at $9 million
$3 million extra cap room
trading 2 picks

This is just insanity. Sheer insanity.

Area surrounding the rink is not a good look . Fact
Eh

This is a bit of a dated reputation. Outside of something that happened after a concert (was it Red Hot Chili Peppers? Or Radiohead?) about 10 years ago, there really haven't been any incidents.

It's not like players (or fans) are getting carjacked or mugged while driving to and from the building or walking to the arena from Penn Station/parking lots.

I would say it's a pretty safe experience going to a game at Prudential Center or going to play a game/practice there.

There's plenty of other buildings on the NHL circuit that are also close to some bad parts of the city.

Nobody in the NHL cares about what rink they're playing in unless it's a famous arena like MSG. And Prudential Center is only 15 years old come on, JG isn't gonna know we had power failures twice or have a leak in the 100 sections :P
Twice?

And I'm pretty sure it was the 200's. 226 if I recall correctly.

There for both.

If Gaudreau is hemming and hawing to allow PHI to open the cap space I'd give him until the end of tonight to finish the contract and then move on. I'm sick of NJ being a team used by others.
I'd give him about as long as Palat is giving everyone else - I wouldn't mind him as a second option depending on the term but if he and Niederriter sign elsewhere and we're left holding the bag on JG...

I just want one of Gaudreau, Palat, or Niederreiter at this point.

Don’t really care who it ends up being, but we need at least one.
