It was a first to dump him.
Didn’t we ? I thought it was him . We were not fap compliant or stuck with a player and Lou used a draft pick to move him? One if if not the first time a GM did that ? Or am I getting old and completely not remembering things right ?

Yes but I still find it hard to believe the same Lou who loses most of his own free agents is going to be the one to nut punch us now.

Lou doesn't lose most of his own free agents, this is 20 years old stuff. He couldn't get Tavares done, but he signed most of the significant Islanders. And with the Devils, Parise left, but he signed a ton of other guys. If anything, he's too good at keeping his own guys now.

That’s how I remember it, seemed like he pulled a rabbit out of a hat with that dump.

Lou will find a way to LTIR his way around the cap if he has to. And it's not like it's just him. Hawks, Pens, Bolts have done it in recent years to enable Cup runs and championships. Let's not act like it's some sacred sin or sign of mismanagement.

Lou will do what it takes if he has his mind set on a goal . He is the original gangster when it comes to pimping off assets to dump players .
What the hell was the name of the defenceman we traded by adding a pick … I can’t remember … started with a Z didn’t it ?

Never mind - edit - Malakov
Who was 37 years when we signed him and was a BAD move from the start.

McGillis the same offseason too. Those two guys we got to replace Niedermayer after he left.

We also got Mogilny that same 2005 free agency, who was 36 already. I didn't think Mogilny was bad (certainly not what he used to be though), but apparently he was a locker room problem and waiving him opened up cap space for Patrik Elias's return that season.

I don't think ANY of those guys made it to NEW YEARS of that first season still on the roster.

Good for Lou. We can offer more and don't need to ship anyone out to get it done now.

If Philly is really out I don't see a reason to be doom and gloom about this unless someone legit said Isles had the inside track.
But its Lou so will that really happen?

Itll probably just be a spontaneous signing and thats how we find out (if its the Islanders)

Kraken had to fill some cap space. Think they needed to make sure they had cap floor. Burakovsky is a bit enigmatic, but having him should help Beniers/Wright as they develop at C.

Sucks missing out on guys like Burakovsky and Perron. They would have been a good fit and went to worse teams.
Meh . I’d prefer Neiderrieder over those two .
As far as hood fits go , I would have liked Marchment , Lyubushkin and Neids for signings . Otherwise try to trade for Puljujarvi
