Worst case scenario - Slavkovsky goes #1 , we trade down and get a pile of shit for doing so ( prospects on the others teams depth chart in the 5+ range ).Where you have to lol up who the hell the player(s) are.
Do not want a pole of mediocre crap for moving down. We don’t need quantity any more. It has to be an overpayment in return or just use the damn pick .

I'm fully on board with trading down if we still walk away with a Jiricek or a Nazar. I think Jiricek's possible. Nazar should be but he's seemingly valued far lower than he should be. If we trade down I think it's likely for Cutter or Kasper so just for the love of god stay at 2 and pick Wright.

Based on PPG in Liiga, ignoringa INTL competition? Advanced analytics? What are you basing that on?

Basing that on various analytical models. You can look at the chart in the tweet below that has players ranked by typical eye scouts and the analytical models separately. Slafkovsky's average ranking under a wide number of analytical models is 16.4.

Wright, Cooley, Nemec and Jiricek all grade out way higher in line with standard top 5 picks.

Yes but if we get a pile of no-name tweeners , there’s no point . Make the pick unless it’s an overpay .

Yeah but #2 picks rarely, if ever, project as poorly analytically as Slafkovsky. Again, there are a lot of people unwilling to admit the inherent risk with Slafkovsky as opposed to what you typically get in that spot. It’s okay to admit that and still like the player.
I don’t accept that one 30 something game sample is any more valuable than another set of games nearly as large. And his actual underlying “analytics” at the world championships were fantastic. Bader’s “analytics” are just basic points per game.

I would be thrilled to land Wright. Absolutely thrilled to have Hughes, nico, Wright as our top 9 centers

Uhhh is this scaled for level of competition? Because how else would you explain the dichotomy between the pro scouts and the static analytics?

Again NHL 22 GM talk coming from you

Agh if Habs get Miller then yes it probably means they go Slaf. But I can’t see what the Habs have to use in trade ? They need every asset they can keep to rebuild

WTF would EJ Hradek ask Cooley where he thinks he might end up. Really? IDIOT.

Jackie then asks what was the weirdest question he was asked. Cooley should've replied "That last one from EJ."

Lol you act like I'm the one running the analysis on this. Also, pro scouts are far from infallible. DeBrincat and Point went in the second round. St. Louis went undrafted. Scout consensus is not a reason to take a player.

I will again reiterate that I love Slafkovsky as a player. I'm just highlighting the significant risk that comes with taking him, which you clearly don't want to admit.

They have another low first-rounder and high second, and if the Habs are trading for JT Miller they don't think they're rebuilding either lol

Canadian franchises are like the anti-Devils....we do nothing and stay in a shell, they throw all the shit up against the wall indiscriminately like toddlers.

Man, Montreal fans are going crazy for Wright it seems like based what I'm seeing in the Montreal board. I'm almost scared for people if they don't draft him lol
Part of me wants them to draft Slaf just to piss their fans off...the other part of me doesn't want to do that to the kid.

You should familiarize yourself with these models, I can't run a 101 course on this for you. They've been around for years and discussed ad nauseam here leading up to the draft. Do basic research on google. Not sure what NHL 22 has to do with anything, but ok.

And yes, the models are adjusted for level of competition, that goes without saying.

I've said before it's basically "give me Wright or give me death" for the Habs fanbase
