I think we should no longer look at Russian prospects cause i have no doubt in my mind that Melnyk is now going to 100% ban the Sens from drafting Russians. Not that i agree with it, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I suspect that many teams might be reluctant to draft a Russian player that plays in Russia at this time due to concerns about being able to get there player out of Russia.

Nemec. He’s NHL ready and we need that.

Chabot- Nemec
Sanderson - Zub

About the only way we can get a decent defence without spending to the moon (assuming we can keep Zub).

I like Nemec, but would rather have Jiricek who IMO has a meaner edge to his game something this team will need on defence going forward. But agree Ott should take one of those two RD if the opportunity presents itself.

Would ho sang have put up numbers against men?

Probably more than Lambert, but that's a low bar.

9 points in 45 games in the SM-Liiga as an 18YR old is not 1st round quality production. Maybe not top 2 round production.

I mean Jarventie had 25 points in 48 games at the same age and I don't know if he's a top 6 forward in the making.

Honestly I think Kemell is our most realistic target. Let the Islanders draft Lambert.

I don't really expect Ottawa to draft Kemell. Possible, but this group doesn't often pick those kinds of plalyers, i.e. overly flashy. They like guys with skill but who will use it within a team concept first. Nemec or Jiricek would make sense if still available at our pick. If not, I can't really see the Sens picking any of these small skilled forwards. I guess Lekkerimaki is the most Sens-type player out of them. Geekie also seems fairly likely, although he does seem to be falling on a lot of rankings. Otherwise I could see them reaching or trading back for someone like Kasper, Luneau, Ohgren, Gauthier, Korchinsky.

Nemec/Cooley are no brainers if available
Savoie/Lambert are a swing for the fences
Slafkovsky/Kemell/Jirichek are safe picks, but not as high-end as others could be

I'd probably trade down to get Lekkerimäki as we need skilled RW. But I could see us pick Jiricek over Nemec.

Chabot-Jirickek
Sanderson-Zub
Kleven-JBD

Not a bad D core

So if we get Slafkovsky and pair him with Stutzle. Who do we pair with them to round our top six.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Slafkovsky-Stutzle-Brown
Formenton-Pinto-Greig

Chabot-????
Sanderson-Zub
Kleven-JBD

It's a future core.

Brown or Formenton for 2022-23. However, Slafkovsky might not make the team .

Switch Brown and Batherson and we have a deal.

Boucher RW. I hope Slafkovsky doesn't become another Puljujarvi, Ottawa could have their own answer at LW in Jarventie which is why I would prefer they draft a RD in Nemec or Jiricek who I prefer to eventually be Chabot's partner or allow Zub to play with Chabot. I don't see Greig playing RW more likely LW/C.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Slafkovsky - Stutzle - Boucher
Formenton - Pinto - C. Brown

True, I’m not sure any player in the draft is completely ready. But still, several months before the next season begins. If you told me Cole Sillinger would be a full time NHLer at this point last year I would’ve thought you were crazy

Our expectations are quite high when it comes to our prospects graduating and stepping into roles as regular roster players. And, having those young prospects step in and make significant contributions without some setback(s) seems to be another expectation. Even if you look at it mathematically, the law of probability is against all (or even most) these players & expectations coming to fruition.

As an example, many had pretty much assumed that Gus would slide in next year (2022-23) seamlessly and play well, and also play well in a fair amount of games this year as well.

I hope for the best, but I think the expectations are a tad high.

This applies to the players we haven't even drafted yet too. You can't just plug in players you don't have. It's fun but not realistic.A team cannot be built solely through the draft. Shrewd trades and free agents are needed to complete the puzzle.
