Josh Anderson
Alexander Romanov
Mike Hoffman
26th Overall
33rd Overall
Prospect: Sean Farrell

2nd Overall
Pavel Zacha

Would you do this from both perspectives?
I'd say it's at least original.

Don't see the point of having Zacha part of that deal.

While it might be fair(ish) value wise, I don't think that does it for either team.
NJ doesn't get a high end piece that would make them let go of the 2nd OA.
While we part with a lot of our assets in one go. Not saying it wouldn't be nice to get that 2nd OA pick, but in the best of cases that fills up one of the many holes in our under construction core. The equation is (assets we'd get for Anderson, ie top6 player or equivalent) + (top 4 D in Romanov) + 2X (potential core players in 26th and 33rd).

I dunno, feels like that's putting lot of eggs in the one basket that is 2nd OA.

Anyway, it's likely a pipe dream as I don't think there's a realistic scenario where we get 2nd OA without trading back from our 1st OA.

Wish we had the benefit of seeing Wright with a different coach before drafting. But after watching Caufield with Ducharme and then MSL you have to wonder

Wards on 690 saying he bumped into
Wrights representative. Says the habs talked to him 6+ times
They are doing their due diligence but at the same time, that makes me nervous that they need to grill him that many times to decide lol 😅

I would rather trade up twice.

I.e. 26+62 vs 18-21 and 33rd+66th vs 24-28
Yup, that would be more interesting to me value-wise.
Trim down on our 3rd-ish rounders and hopefully select two more valuable players.
But maybe it's because I don't know enough about the quality of players that could be around by then (picks 60+).

Really a matter of who remains on the board.

I also think if the return is worth it, people would cheer. The way people are describing Habs fans is a bit too general in my opinion. Those who will be there (ala those who would be willing to shell out money to watch a draft) will likely not be a casual fan. If the return is worth it I dont think the crowd would boo. Conversely if Hughes doesnt pick Wright I dont think the crowd would boo either.
Absolutely. HuGo can simply state "So and So" was always their pick and trading down allowed them to leverage that 1st overall.
BTW I will be at the draft. :D

Might be nothing but my tech company was accepted into an accelerator program that had a 1% acceptance rate. 12 companies selected out of 1200.

They did multiple round of interviews to get to know us, see how we thought etc.

Very normal during a selection process.

Engels just said based on what he heard he doesn't think Cooley is really in the discussion. But doesn't specify if that's the Habs or just from other people.

Sam Cosentino says they are meeting Slafkovsky again soon but they've met Wright 6 times.

I don’t think we can put too much in what Engels said since he said he doesn’t know much.

Hughes yesterday said Vinny would probably talk with both other guys before the draft too.

Basically it’s impossible for the Habs to be 100% certain of this pick. It can’t be him.

There’s almost no risk on Nemec

I think just based on the info of all the meetings they've had with Wright and not the others that he is going to be the one taken...I'm sure they like the other 2 but I'm willing to bet it will be Wright at this point.

Windsor with Savard. Also London with Hunter (and Mailloux)

Would also love to see him in Flint with his former Don Mills AAA teammate Brennan Othmann on his wing, but not sure of the situation regarding that team as that organization used to be a bit of a mess.
