I ultimately think they'll pick Wright - especially with all of the post-combine contact they've had with him, although I do enjoy seeing this last minute Cooley surge - would be elated if he's the pick.
I'm ok with him at 1st OV as well but I'd be even happier if it's after a trade down where we get a little extra on top.I ultimately think they'll pick Wright - especially with all of the post-combine contact they've had with him, although I do enjoy seeing this last minute Cooley surge - would be elated if he's the pick.
Basu just said on 690 that he also sought it was Wright but Hughes' smokescreen monday has him thinking maybe slaf lolI don’t think we can put too much in what Engels said since he said he doesn’t know much.
Hughes yesterday said Vinny would probably talk with both other guys before the draft too.
not happening , we have nothing to make it happenEt si Hughes posait un geste d’éclat?
Pourquoi ne pas tenter d’obtenir le premier choix des Devils du New Jersey, qui choisissent après le CH, pour faire un coup double?www.tvanouvelles.ca
Why is his rep saying such things publicly?Wards on 690 saying he bumped into
Wrights representative. Says the habs talked to him 6+ times
Nothing in what Hughes said pointed to Slafkovsky though, unless they think he’s gonna be the better player at 22-23-24 and that his character on the ice shows more than the other two, or that they think his hockey sense point to him knowing how to use his best attributes and assets… shoot, they might actually think all of that about himBasu just said on 690 that he also sought it was Wright but Hughes' smokescreen monday has him thinking maybe slaf lol

They are doing their due diligence but at the same time, that makes me nervous that they need to grill him that many times to decide lol
Who's his rep? Idiot of the village? Either he says this to help with the smokescreen or to put more pressure on the Habs? What's his angle here?Well, his rep only said this to Ward (you know how the hockey world all know each other). Aaron is the one who said it publicly.
It's his job to promote his client and saying the Habs talked a lot to him is a way to doing that. That he Habs haven't done the same with the other two potential options isn't his problem. Why is his rep saying such things publicly?

Would you do this from both perspectives?
Also said Wright's agent seems to feel positive about things.Wards on 690 saying he bumped into

Engels is also a f***ing idiot.
If you're 48 hours away from picking and you don't know who you're picking, just step down as a gm.
It's not like youre Mike Grier were you just got the job today.
Didnt @WeThreeKings say that legit leaking would come from guys like Renaud Lavoie? If you had to choose a reporter to give inside info to, would you ever pick Lavoie?
No one would.
Yea I think that was what I was trying to get across here. It would take something outrageous and risky to get it done, If NJ is looking to make a push now, maybe they'd consider it but it's a lot to give up for a question mark from our perspective.I'd say it's at least original.
Don't see the point of having Zacha part of that deal.
While it might be fair(ish) value wise, I don't think that does it for either team.
NJ doesn't get a high end piece that would make them let go of the 2nd OA.
While we part with a lot of our assets in one go. Not saying it wouldn't be nice to get that 2nd OA pick, but in the best of cases that fills up one of the many holes in our under construction core. The equation is (assets we'd get for Anderson, ie top6 player or equivalent) + (top 4 D in Romanov) + 2X (potential core players in 26th and 33rd).
I dunno, feels like that's putting lot of eggs in the one basket that is 2nd OA.
Anyway, it's likely a pipe dream as I don't think there's a realistic scenario where we get 2nd OA without trading back from our 1st OA.
For us Cooley fans that's disappointing. Hope it's not something he heard from the Habs!Engels just said based on what he heard he doesn't think Cooley is really in the discussion. But doesn't specify if that's the Habs or just from other people.
Sam Cosentino says they are meeting Slafkovsky again soon but they've met Wright 6 times.

Too much smoke right now imo, and Hughes is clearly playing poker with everyone. For us Cooley fans that's disappointing. Hope it's not something he heard from the Habs!
It's interesting that the agent is making it known that the habs have been talking to him lots. Because from my expansive knowledge from watching Draft Day, there's always a purpose behind those actions.
