Really hesitant at the idea of trading our 26&33 picks.

On the one hand, I'm a believer in quality over quantity any day. And selecting earlier gives you guarantee to get "your guy".

On the other hand, I feel with the high variance and uncertainty from this draft, there might not be such a talent drop off mid 1st round. The potential opportunity to nab two high upside fallers is pretty enticing to me.

It all depends on who's there and which pick we could obtain, but unless we could somehow get close to top 10 and there are still big names available, I feel we're better off staying put.
and as we've seen in the past, 26th + 62nd should be enough to get in the early 20s if a player they really want is still available. I wouldn't do much more than that.

Would you do this from both perspectives?

After all this time leading to the draft where I had Shane Wright first....I changed my mind as far as the Habs are concerned. Having said that, I am NOT going to say anything negative no matter who we pick, we will pick a good player.

But, my choice if I'm at the Habs table, with what I know, which is 0.0001%....is to go with a guy who I feel is complementary to what we have. And that plays the style of hockey that I want to see as a fan, and that also wins hockey games....I'm going dynamic, going with skills, going with not a liability defensively, going with a player that will drive his own line.

My pick is Logan Cooley.

1. The decision won’t be final until Kent Hughes leaves the table with a jersey in his hand. And that jersey, like many others in the stands, will have …
A label.

The camera will zoom in on the jersey but of course, it’ll be folded. However …

A size Small: Cooley
Medium: Wright
3XL: Slaf

:sarcasm:

Draft Wright and send him back to the OHL for one more year. Sign the newly boughtout White as a short term stop gap center for next season and hopefully finish bottom 5 again in a very good draft year.

Engels just said if anyone tells you they know who the Habs are picking. They are lying.
Engels is also a f***ing idiot.

If you're 48 hours away from picking and you don't know who you're picking, just step down as a gm.

It's not like youre Mike Grier were you just got the job today.

Don't know much about Hutson so this is a serious question. Everyone is high on Hutson's skating and zone exits but they worry about him clearing the front of the net and board battles because of his size. So my question is, isn't that what we had in Mete?

Like I said, I haven't followed or watched Hutson so I'm just curious as to what else he brings with his game.
He is likely the smartest/highest IQ player in the draft. His skating is good but it’s not speed, but moreso his shiftiness. If he was 5’11 and maintained the skating, he would be top 15/top 10 in this draft. At 5’9 , he’s very short and is likely what will hold him back if he doesn’t make it. I think teams will take a bet on him growing an inch or 2. He’s a project. He will go to college and play at least 3 years but he’s a boom/bust elite offensive defensemen

So you are trying to write White for Wright, am I right?

I don't understand why we wouldn't go with Wright.

You either have High IQ or not as a prospect. I am terrified by low IQ players, often they have other attributes (size) but Hockey IQ should be the highest on the list of priorities.
Compete is important too but yes, IQ should always be priority #1.

I would rather trade up twice.

I.e. 26+62 vs 18-21 and 33rd+66th vs 24-28
