His AAA stats are up and down. Low BA but decent OBP and SLG. Offense may not be ready, defense I'm not too sure about that. On top of that he has little to no experience catching the staff which would probably* cause problems. There's way too much expected of a catcher which is why catchers are rarely called up as young as Alvarez is right now (20).

From the last 20 years the youngest starting primary catchers that I can think of are Joe Mauer and Yadi who were 22 turning 23 for their first full seasons and they both ended up elite HOF caliber players

Alvarez is having difficulty with people stealing bases right now. He needs more time working on it or he would be up already. We dont need him for the DH spot either since we have a lefty/righty platoon with good splits.

That 12 or 13 game lead is evaporating quickly. They need to pick it up ASAP
Not looking promising after getting dicked down by a similarly slumping Jays team with Jose “5.5 ERA and batters are hitting .400 against my fastball” Berrios on the bump.

There was nothing to address it with other than Contreras who the Cubs evidently wouldn’t move short of a king’s ransom…or Alvarez but that’s another discussion

The Mets have certainly dragged their feet calling up guys in comparison to the Braves who’ve already promoted like eight guys and signed at least half long term.
All fair, and a friend did point out to me last night that MLB has their own version of an elc. Which I should've figured.

His best guess is that they're waiting to bring him up for whatever amount of time that won't burn a year.

Yeah yeah. Can small ball be sustainable is the question. And if the skanks get even half of those relievers back I fear that the shit talking I did to several of my friends is going to bite me in the ass.

Max can't f*** around like that and Pete is a tragedy right now. You're welcome.

deGrom still being sheltered is also good fortune for you.

At least the place was probably 1/3 Mets fans. I expect it to be more tomorrow.

2023 schedule is out for those who like to plan trips. Looks like I can knock off Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Cleveland next year.

Incredible stat that they mentioned during the broadcast last night. deGrom has not had 36 straight starts giving up 3 runs or less. The MLB record is 39 straight starts and dates back to 1914 or 1915. Crazy to think that he could break a 100+ year old record.

Fun game to be at last night, packed house.

But if any of the 38 Yankee fans here can answer this question I'd appreciate it.

Why do you guys show up to Shea flying colors and acting like shit? This has been an issue for as long as I've been going to games and just don't get it.

I've been to many Yankees games, don't wear gear, don't actively cheer against, and don't think I've ever seen a Mets fan in the Bronx acting that way.

Some guy almost got rolled down the stairs last night (not by my hand) because he wouldn't stfu.

As passionate as you might be about that team we've all seen rags fans do this at the rock when playing random teams, so I'd think you can sympathize.

It’s messy. A fair number of Yankees fans are NYR fans. I expect for that part of the Venn diagram it’s constant crowing and showing off. I’m sure you’ve seen that meme about NYR fans having Yankees fan mouths and Jets fan results? It’s confusing when you maybe can brag but maybe not depending upon which hat you wore that day. The Yankees fans that are also NJ Devils fans probably have some perspective.

Yea this. I can’t stand most Yankees fans, especially being a devils fan…even more so being a nets fan who has to deal with the Knicks fans who throw a ticker tape parade for breaking .500
