Yea this. I can’t stand most Yankees fans, especially being a devils fan…even more so being a nets fan who has to deal with the Knicks fans who throw a ticker tape parade for breaking .500
I’m a Devils Yanks and Giants fan. But somewhat casual with baseball and football. I’m happy if the Mets win and same for the Jets. In football my kids are hardcore Saints fans and I am happy when they win. I am sensitive to bad teams struggling. Kids cheer for all these teams and they all deserve something uplifting in their lives. My view is that people who go to the other arena to be jerks are either young or are missing something important that would bring them some peace. I generally feel sorry for adults who carry on like that.

The specific guys I was talking about were definitely young. By young I mean around 25 or so. Kinda sad I consider that young now.

 :help:

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm a Yankees fan (when I give a shit about baseball, that is) and even I can't stand most Yankees fans. It's like being embarrassed by your relatives who don't have a filter.

Sorry, can't see a mention of the garbage team from the garbage city without mentioning how garbage they are.

Sorry, carry on.

You are a Falcons fan? If so that’s a battle you will lose more often than not to the younger generation.
I'm honestly more of a Giants fan these days thanks to my wife, but I will maintain that Falcons-Saints is the most spiteful, petty, and contempt filled rivalry in pro US sports so I don't just give up on that.

I'll be candid, calling a city that you know someone is affiliated with "garbage" is a bit too personal. I think that's uncalled for even if insulting the team is perfectly acceptable.

Yeah, you're right. I regret that, wasn't in a great headspace last night and should have stayed off the internet talky-places.

I'm enjoying following the Mets again. I grew up a diehard Mets fan in the 80's, but lost a ton of interest in baseball following the strike in '94. The Mets being the Mets also made it tough to get back into for long time. Went to Citi Field for the first time a few weeks ago (birthday gift for my son, who's a Braves fan) and started getting hooked again to the point that I'm watching games (at least part of them) most nights now. Fun team to follow, though tough to imagine anyone beating the Dodgers.

Devils are still by far my favorite team and I used to follow the NFL quite a bit as well, but I have practically zero interest in that league now. Guess being a Giants and Jets fan these past few years will do that.

Feel free to insult the Saints though. My kids love the banter with the Falcons. It's funny, as an older person, I think of both Atlanta and New Orleans as historically mediocre teams. To my kids, both have been very good throughout their lifetime. As a Giants fan, I see a team that is like a roller coaster. Hopefully they pull up out of the current free fall.

Meanwhile, back to your regularly scheduled MLB programming:

Somehow the Yanks have started to right the ship. Maybe they can finish with a flourish.

The trumpets are officially in Queens!

May have to get on the train in a few minutes.

I don't care about baseball whatsoever but Timmy Trumpet and the song Narco are awesome

Take it from this Braves fan, you will lose to the dodgers a lot and be sure you'll never beat them, but that makes it all the more sweet if you do. I honestly enjoyed finally beating them more than I did winning the WS last year.

I'm old enough to remember when both these teams sucked. I think that's why the fans relish the other team losing more than their own wins. They know they don't have that much to brag about.

Frankly, I'm sorry about the Giants. I started really rooting for them around 2014 and it's basically been downhill since then. Just like I started rooting for the Devils in 2011. This is all my fault.

See it live, or at least on YouTube. It's the coolest shit since... Dare I say it... Rock n roll part 2.

People go that crazy.

That’s great but to me nothing was more impressive than some Enter Sandman while prime Rivera was throwing his warmup pitches and some hapless hitter was in thr on deck circle having to watch. One of the most intimidating things I’ve ever seen in pro sports.

I can't compare anything to Rivera simply because he's the best there was and probably the best there ever will be.

I can't stand Metallica but have to tip my hat to what was going on then.

And if any idiot compares Diaz to Mariano tell them to go get their GED.

I will say, the best thing baseball has going for it is walkup/walkout music becoming an iconic part of a player's persona.

I used to get chills every time Kimbrel ran out to welcome to the jungle and I normally f***ing hate that song

I am not a Metallica fan at all but that moment was really amazing. As an adult the best part was watching the next hitter. Some were visibly nervous.

You would be too if you knew you'd have to go get another bat in a minute, because Mo was about to shatter the one you were holding. That cutter was nasty.
