Looks like a time, for sure. I still have a big college football game on the bucket list basically just for the intro songs before the games. Like this

Go to an SEC game for that. Find a rivalry game, you won't be disappointed. Auburn-Alabama; LSU-Florida; Ole Miss-Miss St.; Vanderbilt-Local Magnet Middle School for Math and Science....

I went to a university where football meant nothing but basketball games were insane.

Arena security found and returned my dog once because my roommate was a jackass that night.

We lived well over a mile or two from the arena.

I'm not even a Mets fan but Diaz into is the coolest thing in baseball, hands down. 🎺🎺🎺
As Mets fans go your grandma has seen it all from the worst to the World Series. That’s pretty fantastic.
I hate to count the proverbial chickens but have always been insistent that this is a National League town (not that it makes a difference now) if things are going well.

It'll take a decade or so of properly competitive baseball to even hope to catch up, but I remember the 80's and early 90's, my father used to bring us to the Bronx and the vet even though he's a die hard Mets fan because games were practically free. #workingclass

Unlike other teams in the area you're simply born into this. I wish I could say the same for the Devil's but hockey just isn't generational in the same way.

If you are talking about NY it’s a Yankees town in my view. The city and suburbs will cheer for thr Mets if they aren’t playing thr Yankees but I think sheer numbers have favored the Yankees for a long long time.

For at least 25 years, no disputing that.

Hence the qualifier of winning for at least a decade. Because at the end of the day this town likes a winner. Unless you were born a Mets fan.

I've seen Giants and Jets fans pull for each other (I'm one), I've seen Knicks fans flip to the Nets. I've even seen rags fans cheer for the Devil's.

I find it hard to believe you'll find anyone who's traded the blue and orange for a jersey with just a number on it. But I have seen it go the other way.

There is always the geography factor as well. Westchester will probably break down 75/25 Yankees and LI will probably break down 75/25 Mets whether winning or losing. I think one of thr differences is that for a long time some Mets fans actively rooted against the Yankees while my experience was that Yankees fans were happy for the Mets when they had success. That will skew things a bit.

It's also pretty skewed in perception because of 50 cent, Fred Durst, and Jay-Z. Those guys made that hat a fashion statement.

Doubt any of them could give a shit about baseball.

My current neighborhood and previous two all in Brooklyn are definitely Mets turf. Doesn't hurt that none of them are far from ebbets

Is Jay Z the dude that had the song about New York and how had a line in the song saying ''I can make a Yankee hat look more famous than a Yankee can?'' or something like that.

And that was like their theme song for the 2009 World Series. That's like a kick in the balls to anyone that played for the Yankees, especially all time greats who wore that cap long before that guy was even alive.

I mean, he's not really wrong in that he's a well-known musical artist and that people who like his music and don't care about baseball will think of him when they see that hat, but I thought that was a f***ing egotistical thing to put in a song. And then Yankees go and use that song as like a team rally LOL.

I do think he might be a fan of the Yankees. Didn't he own the Nets or a large share of the Nets? That doesn't necessarily mean he's a baseball fan, but he is a New Yorker as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure the Fred Biscuit guy was from Jacksonville, Florida. Not that being from there means you can't like the Yankees (who is the local favorite MLB team there? The Marlins? The Braves?), but I can't see him really caring much about baseball. But who knows? Maybe he's a season ticket holder now (if he can even afford to go to the games) since he probably has plenty of time, since his career has been in the toilet for almost 20 years now.

I just don't like baseball as much as hockey (not anywhere close) but it's kind of time consuming to be dedicated to 160+ games. Especially when there's a decent amount of them on weekday afternoons when I'm working.

I did enjoy going to games a couple times a year, particularly at Shea/Citi Field or once in a while Yankee Stadium.

I usually go a couple times a year to the Rays games at Tropicana Field, because my buddy loves baseball and goes, but I don't really care much for indoor baseball games. And the roof is almost always up, even if it's clear skies with no chance of rain. If I'm going to a baseball game I'd really prefer to sit outside, unless weather is a problem.

I used to love baseball as a kid.

That was indeed his line on that track, and he knew he wasn't wrong. But hip hop is pretty much based on shit talking so I wouldn't take offence.

He was a Nets owner with a very small % on paper for the first few years so that arena could open with a bang and some actual Brooklyn cred. Brilliant move by both sides tbh. I was at the opening show and he sure can perform.

Sadly limp Bizkit has had a resurgence, especially in Europe.
