I appreciate the better flow the pitch clock will bring, and restricting the shift will make “hit it where they ain’t” a viable strategy again. The shift and the emphasis on launch angle are why so many batters are “three true results” guys. Some guys just aren’t dinger mashers but they’re being made to do that.

Honestly, these are the only two rule changes Manfred has decreed that I don’t feel sick to my stomach about. The sport still has a massive marketing problem that he seemingly has no interest in fixing, and things like his insane minor league contraction policy makes me think he doesn’t even like the sport.

It's the same thing as with hockey though...you might not care personally what other people think of your sport but you kind of want it to BE more popular (or in baseball's case stay popular) by the same token. All of these sports are chasing the younger demographic and the younger demo doesn't want 3.5 hour games in May. Soccer's actually gaining in popularity in part because for all the shit it gets for being boring you get games over with in two hours for the most part, and generally built in tension in almost all of them.
All true. But soccer has been gaining in popularity since I was a kid. I think I still have some of those stela with the game reports carved in hieroglyphs and maybe some in cunieform

Aaron Hicks LOL 3rd in the lineup. Shows how much of a joke of a lineup they currently have.

If Atlanta wins it will be the first time since April 12th that the Mets haven't held the top spot.

Talk about on brand, September, mets baseball.

Nah. Mets are easily a top 4 team in the league. Braves are just elite and that doesn’t make the Mets a lousy team. These are two very good teams. Mets just need to get rested and healthy before the postseason.

This team is so unlikable. I rather they find a way to miss the playoffs
That picture will haunt and follow him for the rest of his career.

I cannot remember a player having as completely poor a time of it as Hicks has had it this year. Striking out in huge spots, making boneheaded plays in the outfield.

I mean, this city eats guys up - but he's a complete dumpster fire to go with the legendary ones.

hicks needs to be sent to the island where all the lepers live. Jesus Christ. Bader needs to get healthy asap, and they need to put Waldo in left, Bader in center, and Judge in right.

It’s going back a bit but Chuck (can’t throw to first) Knoblauch immediately comes to mind. Good lord, he’s 54 years old! (I wanted to spell check his name)

He at least hit well. Mackey Sasser was supposed to be the next Met catcher post Gary Carter but the dude couldn’t throw to the pitcher

I wonder if Doris from Queens still calls in with her reflexive coughing?

Sadly, Doris passed almost 20 years ago. :( She was a hoot to listen to. :) She took whatever the headline of the day was and repeated the story with the cough every few words.

I am surprised she was only in her 50s. I would have expected her to be much older. She was part of thr golden era at WFAN

I can't believe no one ever hooked her and Jerome on a date.

20 years ago? Jesus I'm getting old.

Captain midnight to the rescue please.

My favorite FAN callers were always the ones that would ask the host about some completely meaningless moment in a Mets win.

Caller (heavy set guy with mustache the a walrus would be proud of and tshirt with mustard spilled on it - I know you can’t see him but that’s who he was): First time long time. So in the top of the fourth when Fernandez had Gibson 2 and 2 he threw a slider that Gibson fouled off the opposite way. Do you think he should have thrown a four seam fastball there? Thanks and I’ll hang up and listen.

Host: well Gibson struck out on the next pitch and Fernandez left the game with a 3-1 lead after 90 pitches total.

I was just as surprised. I knew she had passed, but damn, time flies.

So true LOL! The way callers would break down the entire game around ONE FREAKING PITCH in the third inning was hilarious.

I can only get the Marlins feed and wtf?!?!

This is the most ridiculous professional sports commentating I've ever seen.

Yo, yo, Ralph! Boogie (a person with a full gold grill)! Bottle service!

I'd like to say I wish I was kidding but it's so absurd I have to lmao.
