How well would going off as a Braves fan play in here? Should I keep that to myself? Probably for the best, right? Yeah.

Wait, does anyone aside from Aints fans hate us? I thought we were too pathetic to be hated
My kids are Saints fans. Don’t get them riled up. They will have you curled up in the corner crying for mercy. They are too young to remember the bad old Saints. They’ve never known a coach other than Payton.

I’ve been following the Yankees collapse kind of closely, as my best friend is a fan.

We usually go to a game in Tampa at least one of the two series they play a year here, sometimes one game in each series. He and I will go, then he’ll take his family the next night or I’ll also tag along with him and the family.

They play the Rays down here on Labor Day Weekend.

1 run in 3 games is even bad for a hockey team. That’s really bad in baseball, considering It’s a higher scoring game. I think they’ve been shutout 4 times this month already and two of them were just 1-0.

I think it’s more like the 09-10 Devils than the 10-11 Devils. The 09-10 Devils were on pace for the presidents trophy in the first half of the season and I think maybe even the most winning season in franchise history, before going .500 or maybe even slightly less than .500 from like January onward and that definitely was a precursor for the 10-11 first half, only that wound up being far worse. I’m sure in no small part due to having the worst coach in the history of hockey, who wasn’t present on the staff the season before.

I can't get behind the injury excuse because they were finding ways to lose almost every night before DJ and Carp got hurt.

They are constantly finding ways to lose and there seems to be zero urgency to fix it. It will just work itself out come playoff time.

But just look at the Dodgers record - 80 and 35 my gosh.
Have to look up the all time best record in the modern era - they’ve got to be within striking distance. I can’t imagine a better record at this point in a season than they now enjoy.
Edit - the answer is Seattle with 116 wins in 2001. The Dodgers are in the hunt at least.

The time to call up Peraza was probably a week or two ago when he was on a 30 for 80 stretch. Gone 7 for 38 since.

Every big team has a similar holes. Mets at C and Astros at CF. Dodgers a little less so but are underwhelming at 3B and CF
After today he retains rookie status and doesnt burn a service year I believe. Hell be up

McCann is not a major league baseball player.

How they didn't address this at the deadline and are currently doing nothing to rectify the situation is beyond me.

What more do you need? The guy is batting .180

The team would look so much better if they had grabbed Contreras out of Chicago. At this point best case is Alvarez is ready by June or so

There was nothing to address it with other than Contreras who the Cubs evidently wouldn’t move short of a king’s ransom…or Alvarez but that’s another discussion

The Mets have certainly dragged their feet calling up guys in comparison to the Braves who’ve already promoted like eight guys and signed at least half long term.

I'm admittedly not the most knowledgeable baseball fan around these parts, but could it really hurt to call Alvarez up?
His AAA stats are up and down. Low BA but decent OBP and SLG. Offense may not be ready, defense I'm not too sure about that. On top of that he has little to no experience catching the staff which would probably* cause problems. There's way too much expected of a catcher which is why catchers are rarely called up as young as Alvarez is right now (20).

From the last 20 years the youngest starting primary catchers that I can think of are Joe Mauer and Yadi who were 22 turning 23 for their first full seasons and they both ended up elite HOF caliber players
