If this season ends where it looks like it's going to end, both Boone and Cashman have to be fired.
I still wonder what compelled Cashman to galaxy brain the end of the deadline and trade a starting pitcher for an injured role player in centerfield just because ‘Montgomery wasn’t going to start in October anyway’…that’s assuming good health out of your rotation first of all - which is no guarantee over a two month period. It’s ironic their slump began right after then. He had to have thought he was getting Lopez or another starting pitcher but even then, why do that deal before the other one is official?

TBF Monty hasn't been good this year, but yeah that deal didn't make sense. Especially with Severino being put on the 60 Day DL.

They had to have thought they were getting another starter and he goofed. At least get an active bat though? Especially when Boone is actively keeping guys out of the lineup because August doesn't matter supposedly. The bottom of the lineup guys they are sending out there right now are awful.

They also refuse to call up their SS prospect who is raking in AAA while IKF continues to suck ass.

Sending down one of their better bullpen arms in Marinacco just to prevent losing Abreu who has been awful all year (blew another game today, was happening before Marinacco got sent down too) like why?

They also admitted they kept Rizzo out longer then needed because it's August and these games don't matter as much. Almost certainly the case with Stanten too.

Boone and Cashman seem convinced they can field subpar lineups to rest guys until September and the team is just going to flip a switch, and I am not sure I buy that

This slump has to be tough to watch, and I'm pretty ignorant to what you're talking about as I don't watch or pay attention to the team outside of Judge, stats when I'm mocking them in places like this, and the standings. But those guys still have the best record in the AL and 3rd best in baseball. They're going to the playoffs.

And for all the trash I talk I desperately want to see a subway series in which the Mets actually have a shot unlike the previous one. So I guess I'm actually pulling for you in a weird way. Sadist? Masochist? I've been called both.

The unwillingness to call up Peraza is going to give me an ulcer.

Boone said no plans to bring him up. Astros now in sole possession of first place and home field.

How can anyone be excited about this team right now when no one inside the organization gives a shit about trying to win games right now?

Begging for a 1st round lose if they even win the division, which isn't a guarantee with how they are playing. They look poised for a potential historic collapse.

Going by WAR, IKF is the second worst starting shortstop in baseball. Only Arizona's is worse
The time to call up Peraza was probably a week or two ago when he was on a 30 for 80 stretch. Gone 7 for 38 since.

Every big team has a similar holes. Mets at C and Astros at CF. Dodgers a little less so but are underwhelming at 3B and CF

Tatis suspended for 80 games for violating the MLB performance-enhancing policy. Put for playoffs.

Ouch

And btw is Girardi ever getting another managerial job after his own bench coach is making the Phillies look like the post-MacLean Devils under Lemaire?

Tough loss in Flushing tonight. You can't ask for much more from your pitchers through 9.

Marte getting thrown out at the plate by an absolute missile in the bottom of the ninth blew, because that place was ready to erupt.

That umpire was foul with his calls that were clearly off the right side of the plate, but you still have to score more than one run so no excuses I guess.

On to deGrom day.
