Zadina is actually young enough to be part of a future core, so hopefully he does. I'm not expecting it, but it's plausible.
Yeah agreed and I just dig that he took such a big risk and then signed here.

All of my Red Wings fan friends think we're stupid for giving him a risk-free shot. so sticking it to them adds to the wantThat’s honestly all I want. And for Eklund and Zadina to break out. Eklund cause duh. Zadina because I think he put a huge bet on himself and it’d be an awesome story for all parties if it paid off.
Wonder if this is all in addition to our current batch of scouts or replacing some guys
Oh and I almost forgot they signed Hertl to a 4-year contract when he's the one guy they SHOULD have signed for 8 years. Probably could have got him at a 7-7.5M cap hit and the contract would be over three years from now.
Apart from being two of the best players at their positions for 10+ years? They were hired as amateur scouts, not president of hockey operations. Who is better qualified for that role?Seems like the qualifications for Vanek and Miller is them having played with Grier...

Sometimes it feels like Doug Wilson was running the Sharks with like 3 other dudes.
Though, hiring Vanek to JUST scout Minnesota is kinda hilarious.
I'm not expecting much from this either, considering Nabby is one of the best goalies in Sharks history and his tenure with running goalie operations has been terribleMiller is a goalie development coach; also, what's the correlation between being a good player and being a good coach/scout/executive?
Probably that he knows how to play goalie at the NHL Level. To me that would be better than someone who is exceptional at coaching but has never played goalie in the NHL. Or never played in the NHL. Or never played hockey.Miller is a goalie development coach; also, what's the correlation between being a good player and being a good coach/scout/executive?
What exactly are you expecting the hires to be for these positions? I think a former player is the expected prior qualifications for scouts/coaches, they all have to start somewhere.Seems like the qualifications for Vanek and Miller is them having played with Grier...

Miller's primary role is amateur goalie scout. He is just also helping Nabokov develop goalies because why wouldn't you want one of the best goaltenders of the past 20 years lending his insight to your goalie prospects?Miller is a goalie development coach; also, what's the correlation between being a good player and being a good coach/scout/executive?

Thomas Speer is the main goalie coach now. I don't know why nobody realizes thatI have no problem with Ryan Miller being brought in as goalie coach. He can't be worse than Nabby.
I remember following Igor on twitter a decade ago for my KHL news. Weird.
Also, this is getting just as bad as the Wilson nepotism just in a different way. Adding as many random NHLers as possible to the FO as long as they're ex-teammates because....? Seems like Grier's strategy really is quantity>quality for both players and office hires.
I don't think the path to victory is to follow everyone else off a cliff!Literally so many hires in hockey ops are ex NHLers, is this… shocking?
It boggles the mind they haven’t stormed your door to hire you and your innovative thinking.I don't think the path to victory is to follow everyone else off a cliff!
Sharks need innovative thinking, and Grier hasn't shown any signs of that.
So we should not follow the path of the lightning, knights, Colorado, Blues, Penguins. Got it.I don't think the path to victory is to follow everyone else off a cliff!
