Speculation: 2022-23 Sharks Roster Discussion Part II

Mukhamadullin is actually 6’4”. Makes the d corps even better.

I THOUGHT he was taller. Google lead me astray.

I've heard 6'8'' Tyler Myers is available. Could hold the door while the young elephants get here. :sarcasm:

Oh man, now we’re for sure getting him. Robins, Eklund and Guschin can ride our defense into battle.

Our goal song next year is "The Last March of the Ents."
Our D will be carrying our forwards

It’d be actually hilarious if Vlasic puts up top end offensive stats now
Vlasic: "Hilarious how? I mean, what's hilarious about it? You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little f***ed up maybe, but I'm hilarious how, I mean hilarious like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to f***in' amuse you? What do you mean hilarious, hilarious how? How am I hilarious?"

could you explain to me the origin of this meme?

like i've seen it being used around about how Vlasic will try hard but I don't get it lol
It’s try hard offensively basically. It stems from when EK was acquired and everyone thought we’d be stellar with arguably the best defensive and offensive D on a pair together and then Vlasic decided he was going to be an offensive D and Karlsson spent a ton of time having to cover for Vlasic.

Yotes fan coming with trade idea.

Jan Jenik reportedly wants a fresh start. Still a promising prospect. Has good size and skill, positional versatility. His biggest differentiator is what a pain in the ass he is. World class pest.

AZ could use LD depth. Shored up RD by signing Dumba and trading a 2nd for Sean Durzi.

Despite the 2nd for Durzi, and despite making an unbelievable amount of picks the the last few draft, Arizona still has an incredible amount of picks in the next couple of drafts.

I was thinking about Jenik and a pick or two for Mario Ferraro? Maybe a 2nd or a pair of 3rds?

Is that at all reasonable?

Can't speak for everyone but I'd definitely do it. I like Jenik, he is a pain to play against, like you said. I'd worry a little bit about trying to send him through waivers at the start of the season. Getting a 2nd in the deal, though? Easy yes.

for most of us, yes thats probably reasonable. For the Team, probably not. They see Mario as a leader just based on personality and work ethic. There are not many left on the team like that, and likely none in the dzone.

What if AZ added Josh Brown? I’d hate to do it. He’s a big nasty sonnofagun who beats the wheels off dudes and can PK. But AZ traded for Durzi, re-signed Stecher, signed Dumba and still has Soderstrom trying to get minutes. That’s 4 RD not counting Brown.

Maybe Brown having some vet status and toughness replaces a little of what you lose in Ferraro in the intangibles department?

I'd say Brown is unlikely to move the needle here just cuz we have a couple of guys like that clogging up our depth already. But I agree with others that I'd be okay with moving Ferraro for something like Jenik+2nd as the base.

Absolutely

This team has more LHD than anyone knows what to do with, losing Ferraro is fine

The degree to which the previous regime hyped up Ferraro was ridiculous. We'll never know whether they were just desperately trying to highlight the lone half-decent youngish player in the entire organization or if they were actually high on their own supply.

Divorced from those unfair expectations, I think Ferraro is a perfectly fine #4 or #5 defenseman with the potential to develop a little bit further. His contract is reasonable given his age and TOI too. I wouldn't trade him just for futures unless we're getting a 1st. We can likely trade him for a 2nd in the final year of his contract if we're still bad.

Until then IMO Ferraro has more value to us as a sacrificial lamb in tough minutes and the chance he can be flipped for a similar aged roster player at a position of greater organizational need than LD.

There's merit to the idea that Ferraro is a better talent than his play indicates. From having a weird partner (Burns), a maybe reverse Matt Carle syndrome, and all the other cultural problems the Sharks had.
