Message boards are for bringing all of the information from the national talking heads and letting people decide for themselves what they want to believe or not. This isn't news necessarily from Pagnotta as we've been hearing it from the full crew of Friedman, LeBrun, Johnston, etc.
Have we thought? All I’ve seen is them linking us to Greenway and Fabbro not necessarily young NHLers.

Also that’s all Pagnotta does too so if you post stuff from the actual reliable sources then you too can be David Pagnotta!

Keep your dirty hands off of Guschin.
Lol. 5'8 sniper that isn't finding it easy to snipe on non-junior level goaltending. Maybe it is the Russian bias, but feel Chekhovich all over again. Maximize the return on these DWjr sleepers that will likely never pan out before the jig is up altogether.

Haha. I just use a Twitter list with a dozen of the national talking heads for times of year like this. He's one on there as he isn't tied to a specific team and thus doesn't clog up my feed with game updates for teams I care nothing about.

Re: the young NHL players, that has been reported. While Greenway and Fabbro are the names that have been out there, wouldn't doubt that Grier is looking at other guys in that mold/age range. Cost would likely be exorbitant relative to the year he's having (and his contract), but have had this random hunch that Grier/Quinn could target another BU boy in Farabee given he hates Torts and Torts seems to hate him back. Strictly just my own musings and nothing sourced by any means.

Guschin is getting better and better and figuring out the AHL. He needs more time but he has 10x more skill than Chekhovich. Give him a minute.

I’ll give you Coe, you can take him.

The more I read about him the more I’m sort of into him. He’s 24, he used to be a top 4 defenseman until the Preds coach put him on their third pairing (a Preds fan talks about this on the main board and says Fabbro was doing great and was randomly demoted). Doesn’t he just increase our defensive prospect pool?
I would prefer Fabbro over any of our lefties playing the right side. However, unless we're moving something like Simek and a prospect we want to flush out like Hamaliuk then I'd only be interested if he became a free agent.

I definitely could see all of that that you said. I think this is Grier doing his die diligence to check in on some of these younger guys who aren’t necessarily living up to their contracts but still could turn it around. The difference this year vs DW years is that Grier is much more forthcoming with info and I think that’s not just publicly. I could be wrong on that as it’s just kind of what I’ve seen.

Gushchin plays with so much more effort and skill than Chekhovich or Goldobin ever did. It's really not a good comparison

Agreed. He’s getting better and growing and that’s all you can hope for. AHL isn’t an easy league either and he’s going to need another half a year or full year to continue growing but I still have high hopes.

From my viewings, I’m not sure he can make it in the NHL. I could be totally wrong.

We bemoan our prospect pool and then come up with reasons to try and keep virtually all of them because of a lie we were sold by DWjr and his crew years ago.

Any NHL player value that can be extracted from basically anyone in the group not named Eklund or Bordeleau should be attempted. Not saying to go out and trade them for 27-30 year old grinders, but those guys are all on the table and primary pieces that I'd be moving to acquire 23-25 year old NHL players.

We just don’t have any guys with his hands. Trade the lot of them, but I personally have a soft spot for Guschin and I want to give him another year to see what he can do. If I’m right, venmo me a beer.

Pagnotta says he thinks Sharks are still actively looking for young, NHL players to add before the deadline is done.
I do think Pagnotta knows some sharks stuff. He obviously writes a ton of stuff and some is garbage, but I think hes got some sources

Have to imagine that this increases the value for Bonino as a comp. Feel like a 2023 3rd round pick could certainly be in play now for him whereas I would have thought it lower prior to this.

Is Bonino even much worse than Eller?

I don't personally think so, but feel like perception is that Eller is better and can be a more true 3C instead of 4C. Shooting percentage is markedly down compared to past years where he scored more compared to Bonino's being consistent compared to last year. 3rd for Bonino and I'd be thrilled.

At first I was like oh man all the bottom feeders are trading away their guys, they’re all getting worse! And then I realized the Sharks have basically no guys to trade because no one wants them and we’re terrible, and I felt better.

I'd like to see the Sharks move Bonino and Reimer, and perhaps move on from Gregor and Lindblom. I wonder about the market for someone like Svechnikov.

Yeah you have to imagine Bonino and Reimer are likely gone unless there’s no market for them. Gregor asked for a trade and they tend to oblige when a player asks. I’m sure of someone offered a pack of cigarettes, they’d trade Labanc.

I mean, really, sell anyone and everyone.

I had this thought… I wonder if Ferraro is being shopped at all. Maybe not but just a weird Spidey sense.

Why would we trade futures for Fabbro at the deadline, which might lower our odds? Michael, I know he went to BU, but if you're reading this, please also remember he's not a 6'9" god, he's just a short king, only 6'. Please don't do it.

Not sure where I read it, but Grier supposedly really like Ferraro. Given he was the actual GM whenever Ferraro inked his extension, I would imagine that he's not being shopped. Would also seem to fit the type of player that Grier is looking for in guys like Fabbro so doubt that he'd be looking to move the same type of guy.

Fair enough. With the sudden influx of D we have in the pipeline, I imagine he'd love to move Simek (though he had a really good game in Montreal I thought), MacDonald, etc. I feel like our defense is basically a bunch of spare parts.

I don't think that Bonino plays with enough pace to fit on a contender. Time will tell.

While I will acknowledge that Gushchin doesn't have high odds of making it as an NHL regular, I do think he probably holds the most value to the Sharks. If he's traded, I doubt it's as the centerpiece of anything, and if he's sort of just a lottery ticket throw-in, well, I'd rather keep as many of those lottery tickets for ourselves--just in case he does buck the odds and that combination of skill and determination all comes together for him.

Don't forget, he has won a Cup! Big bonus points there.

I don't think he can play 3C for a contender, but I could see him as a 4C or, better yet, an effective bottom-six winger.
