Arizona will get a pick in the 10-15 range this year, which is better than any asset we got. But on the flip side, Chychrun should have been worth more than Meier due to his contract. All in all, I think this is emblematic of a Buyer’s Market.

Karlsson to DT lets go
Was worried that was where Yzerman was going to go with the newfound D space so that's a positive. Take on Vrana as part of the package and alleviate even more cap room for Yzerman and give Hertl another Czech friend on his line.

He also plays a far more premium position too.

Man, it does feel like he’s a perfect fit for them and like, who else replaces Hronek? Unless they’re just in a full rebuild too.
I mean, they do have Seider who’s a minute muncher on the right side. But I genuinely feel that Detroit would be a great situation for Karlsson. Seider to eat up tough minutes, Karlsson can play 25 minutes a night against weaker opponents. There’s lots of Swedes there, including core pieces like Raymond and Edvinsson, and Larkin just re-signed, so they’re committed to winning after this season.

With that said… I dunno if I’d be willing to leave the Bay Area for Detroit. Who knows if Karl would.

Seider is their stud of the future, but don't know that he's the top pairing PP unit guy. Might eventually evolve, but that's not necessarily his game right now.

lol omg I just saw the vancouver trade. Love that they're loading up for a playoff run. I'm afraid to laugh because I could see the sharks pulling a similar nonsense trade for fabbro

Let us pray.

I’d love to move EK now, get some picks/prospects, and solidify the tank.

Chychrun to Ottawa.

That sound you hear is Edmonton seething in the background.

I mean seriously if that's all it took I would've taken him on the Sharks. I don't care if we're "rebuilding".

Everyone loading up, the teams who missed are surely eyeing Erik Karlsson. Anyone out there who can still afford him/need him? Detroit is a good fit… who else?
Buffalo is the only other fit I can see. Detroit is missing the playoffs this year, so I suspect they would just wait till summer if they did do it

Im sure Winnipeg would like him but thats not happening

Detroit is the only fit at this point because they have immense cap space and wouldn't have to play a bunch of cap shenanigan games to make it work.

I could see them interested in Parayko, but not sure if you'd rather have soon to be 30 year old Parayko for 7 more years at $6.5M or soon to be 33 year old Erik Karlsson for 4 more years around $9M. I'm not moving Hronek to open a spot for Parayko though under any circumstance.

Would he go to Detroit? I guess if it’s a choice between us and them…
I would bet Karlsson would be okay going to Detroit. It's a lot closer to Ottawa for his family and they're on the rise. But until I see something to the contrary, that is an offseason thing.

If the Blues get positive assets for that Parayko contract, their GM is an absolute boss. I wouldn’t trade Karlsson for Parayko straight up.
