Another issue for future.... flat cap.

While the players have almost paid off.the covid deficit, off the new US TV contracts (and recent Canadian deal), individual teams may be facing up to 70% cut in local TV revenues with pending bankruptcy of Bally and AT&T sports channels.

I don't think that cap will jump more than $1m for a while.

Didn't want him so much that he traded for him. For one, Kaut was called up using an Emergency Loan rather than a true AHL to NHL call up. Secondly, with Zetterlund and Johnsson coming onto the NHL roster there isn't a realistic spot to play him until some of the group of Barabanov, Gregor, Bonino, and Labanc are traded this week.
It's possible that that trade was more about moving Merkley and giving Nieto a shot somewhere else than anything else.

Gotta trade Barabanov sooner than later. Now that Meier is gone, Hertl is depressed so defenses are gonna focus more on his line lowering his scoring and value.

Remember, lower scoring = higher scoring this year! Losses are wins! And wins? What wins?

I genuinely feel like Seattle would be perfect for Karlsson. They have a solid defense by committee, but they’re missing that X Factor on D.
Doubtful that he wants to go to a team that isn't a surefire Cup contender. Seattle won't have the forward group to truly contend anytime soon.
I could see Dallas in the mix as well as Florida.
Tough to see how the cap would work on a Dallas deal. Only have $8.6M of cap space heading into the offseason with the Hintz big extension kicking in. Though at the same time, if we took back a bloated deal like Faksa (and sent Gregor or Lorentz in his place), got Lundkvist in the deal, and retained the rumored 20% on Karlsson that would be a net cap exchange of right around $6M to Dallas with only needing to sign a 7D ($775k), and 2-3 depth forwards for cheap with the remaining cap space (would be an unreasonably tight squeeze to make it work without SJ retaining closer to 30% and Dallas moving Colin Miller somewhere as well).

Cue Dante Fabbro.

The more I read about him the more I’m sort of into him. He’s 24, he used to be a top 4 defenseman until the Preds coach put him on their third pairing (a Preds fan talks about this on the main board and says Fabbro was doing great and was randomly demoted). Doesn’t he just increase our defensive prospect pool?

Not a bad plan. Our defense could look strong in no time.

Yeah, a Mukh, Fabbro, Thrun, Benning top 4 isn’t bad. Not sure where Ferraro or Vlasic go but…
It’ll work itself out. Some will take longer but if these guys are the real deal, they’ll have to make room. I’m excited to have these young, upcoming defensemen. We’ve not really had this outside of one maybe two.

Think he is a Ferraro caliber player. Realistically, think a Ferraro-Fabbro 2nd pairing is pretty decent, probably average to above average (which is a big step up from where we've been this year and the bulk of the last few years without EK65).

I don't want to pay a steep price for him, but if you could get it done for a Wiesblatt/Coe/Robins/Guschin + 3rd type of a deal then I'd be into it assuming you can get a reasonable extension signed this offseason for 2-4 years (not sure what his RFA/UFA status would be after a 2 year deal - if RFA after 2 then 2 year deal, if UFA after 2 then 1 year deal to RFA or 3-4 year deal to buy up UFA years).

Keep your dirty hands off of Guschin.

Pagnotta is bad.
Message boards are for bringing all of the information from the national talking heads and letting people decide for themselves what they want to believe or not. This isn't news necessarily from Pagnotta as we've been hearing it from the full crew of Friedman, LeBrun, Johnston, etc.
