Karlsson literally walked out of his interview because they were badgering him about his future, so I think he's definitely upset -- specifically, I think he'd like to get the hell out of here.
I volunteer to drive him to the airport. I'd like him the hell out of here too. Then Couture, who loves playing here so much and being a loser, to follow.

Why would it be weird for MG to ask EK if he'd waive his NMC? It's obviously on his mind lol. Go for it

He means it would be weird to never ask EK if he would waive all season and wait till the last minute. He's not talking about for a specific team but in general if he would waive

Shouldn't the odds also increase of getting asked to waive a NMC the closer it is to the TDL?
that comment is weird to me in a few ways. It sounded like the talk between the Sharks and the oilers were real and relatively far along. Why even do that if Karl wasnt asked about going there.

I have been playing through potential EK trades to Edm and they are all really hard even with 50% retention it would require Edm to move out multiple current NHL players which is difficult for a team in the playoff hunt.

The more I look into it I really want both Broberg and Bouchard.

Broberg, Bouchard, Barrie, Puljujarvi, 23 1st
for
EK (50%), MacDonald, Gregor

Using CapFriendly this makes Edm over by 50k with only 22 rostered players. To make this work they would have to also include Yamamoto. The sharks could then add Bonino which would fit the trade under the cap for Edm.

Broberg, Bouchard, Barrie, Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, 23 1st
For
EK (50%), MaccDonald, Gregor, Bonino, Viel (contract limit)

I think the value for this trade is definitely on the Edm side as 4 years of EK at a 5,750,000 cap hit is worth more than this but the trade is asking a playoff team to replace 5 full time players on their roster which is unprecedented. This makes me think an off-season trade is much more likely.

We're not retaining on EK65. Not even 1%. So this proposal is dead in the water.

What did EK think? He must have seen this coming so he can’t be overly surprised, these are conversations they should have had a while ago in regards to his NMC.

I mean thats just not true. Reports are Grier was willing up to 20%, and more if the assets are massive
I mean at this point when it’s clear it’s gonna be a while before we’re good again, there’s no reason not to retain.

I think it's the opposite. I think he's probably wanted out for a while, and he's a bit annoyed that Grier hasn't talked to him yet about it /despite/ all of the noise in the press. He sounds like he wishes Grier dealt him sooner, and Timo leaving is further signal he has no future here.

He said he's having fun and in the end, that's all that really matters.
