After Kane goes there is absolutely nothing left to trade haha its pretty amazing
Just imagine if they didn't blow a load on Seth Jones like a bunch of idiots.

Watch Grier decide to not trade Karlsson this year and he goes on a tear in spite of him and we get 10th overall
He's already been on one and we're where we're at now. Don't think that is much of a worry. I think Karlsson sees that he's here the rest of the year and is going to enjoy his last 3 months of Cali life before it's off to somewhere else for him this summer. Knows he can't get hurt if he wants that to happen too.

One benefit to trading Timo yesterday is that it allows Grier the rest of the week now to deal with smaller parts (Bonino, etc.) but also the much more complicated Karlsson situation.

It really comes down to two things: Will Edmonton blink? And since I don't think the Sharks are actually willing to go over maybe 25-30% retainment, can they find a third party? There are going to be so many moving parts that if there's any possibility of a Karlsson deal being struck, especially with Grier as a first-time manager, it feels pretty important to have the Meier trade already out of the way.

I would be in total shock if they trade Karlsson now. There's just so little time left. I think it's summer, unless Edmonton is freaking out about what all the other teams are doing and decides to just go for it. But Grier is also likely busy trying to trade our other spare parts... just not sure there's enough time. I hope he manages it, though!

Get it done Grier
Karlsson has a lot of nerve….A major reason why it’s not gonna be a quick turnaround is his 11mil a year salary. Granted he’s an elite hockey player. Youre single handedly cash strapping any chance this team has to add better quality players. Vlasic and Labancs contracts don’t help but still..

I dont blame him for that, but his injuries and bad play are what did it.

If he was like this every year, we wouldve done much better, but too little too late.

Bleh.

Inaction here would be worse than the concerns over the return on Timo. EK65 and his renaissance season has him at absolutely peak value, he needs to be moved now for the best return possible.
If the money doesn't work then it doesn't work. Looking at Edmonton for example. They'd have to blow up almost 20% of their current NHL roster to make a Karlsson. Seems easy for folks like us sitting on the sidelines to say "Give up Bouchard, Barrie, Foegele, and Yamamoto/JP", but reality is that is super hard for a team to do midseason without blowing up the locker room and such. He will get moved this summer once a team like Edmonton (for example) has time to make separate moves involving Barrie, Foegele, etc. that don't really have any value to the Sharks outside of cap balancing.

Really? This is his fault? Dude signed his contract when the cap was increasing by 3-5 million a year every year. Cap was supposed to already be well over $90+ million right now if the environment in which he signed his extension held constant. COVID hit and the teams lost boat loads of money that is now being repaid to the league and hampering the cap for a long time.

This isn't a league where players can restructure deals either so this argument is senseless.
