In the trade rumors section, someone posted that Friedman said the New Jersey Devils are pushing hard to acquire Timo.

I just listened to the podcast. He didn’t say pushing hard. He said he thinks they are interested but he hasn’t heard anything definite.

Yeah definitely! I’ve noticed a lot of people take Friedman’s speculation or when he adds disclaimers like “I’m not certain on this” and claims it’s a fact when Friedman himself cautions people against doing that. I think NJD is definitely one of the front runners for Timo if we move him.

Labanc is so weird and I know I’ve said this before but he is by far the most frustrating player on the team (to me at least). He will have one game where he’s all over the ice but ultimately doesn’t get a point and then the next game he will be entirely invisible and take a stupid penalty or two that the other team scores on but he will get a goal or assist so the game looks better for him. If he was consistently in the direct middle of those two, he’d be worth his contract and be really fun to watch.

Karlsson worth a truck load of money isn’t surprising. On pace for 110 points (ish) as a defenseman is freaking insane.

We literally have no C or D prospects outside of Bystedt (probably maxes out as a 3C) and Laroque (probably maxes out as a 2nd pairing D). If someone came in and offered say Nikishin, Raty, McMichael, Lapierre, Morrow (just a few that have been mentioned by fans around Timo), I take that.

SJ isn’t looking to take 10+ years to rebuild. If Holtz is the best prospect offered than sure but all of those guys are similar to Holtz and fill much more of a need than Holtz. I like Holtz too just not exactly what we need.

At least with those bad contracts, they're easy to manage other than Couture and Vlasic. I think Couture is still tradeable but probably not without retention which would tie up all our retention slots assuming Karlsson goes with retention as well. It's going to be rough until 2026.

Because his contract is an achor. Couture has 14 years in his legs. He's dropped off from being a 60-70pt Center with mid 50s to 60 Corsi and 50% Face off percentage

to a 40-50 pt center with Corsi of 50% Not sure how much he has left in the tank, which other GMs are questioning as well.

Sure, and I think that Couture is definitely movable the way Burns was movable. Vlasic is the only truly disgusting contract at the moment. I just thought it was funny how bad a lot of those players graded out, so much so that they’re millions of dollars below replacement level.

Couture is doing what he does most regular seasons - not look very good but put up a surprising amount of points.

That said, a team trading for him won't care about the regular season part, that's not his bread and butter.

Wood is a UFA, he'd be a cap dump from the Jersey side. I don't think the Devils can sign him, certainly not with a Meier deal

I’d do Holtz+Vilen+1st+3rd+Johnsson+Blackwood for Reimer+Timo pretty easily.
