I just listened to the podcast. He didn’t say pushing hard. He said he thinks they are interested but he hasn’t heard anything definite. In the trade rumors section, someone posted that Friedman said the New Jersey Devils are pushing hard to acquire Timo.
Thanks for the clarity. To be honest, I went off the posters post.I just listened to the podcast. He didn’t say pushing hard. He said he thinks they are interested but he hasn’t heard anything definite.
Yeah definitely! I’ve noticed a lot of people take Friedman’s speculation or when he adds disclaimers like “I’m not certain on this” and claims it’s a fact when Friedman himself cautions people against doing that. I think NJD is definitely one of the front runners for Timo if we move him. Thanks for the clarity. To be honest, I went off the posters post.
Labanc is so weird and I know I’ve said this before but he is by far the most frustrating player on the team (to me at least). He will have one game where he’s all over the ice but ultimately doesn’t get a point and then the next game he will be entirely invisible and take a stupid penalty or two that the other team scores on but he will get a goal or assist so the game looks better for him. If he was consistently in the direct middle of those two, he’d be worth his contract and be really fun to watch.Paywall: NHL Player Cards: San Jose Sharks
Nothing too odd really. Labanc having positive surplus value is interesting. Karl being labelled as worth 13.6 mill is also interesting...

MukhamadulinWe literally have no C or D prospects outside of Bystedt (probably maxes out as a 3C) and Laroque (probably maxes out as a 2nd pairing D). If someone came in and offered say Nikishin, Raty, McMichael, Lapierre, Morrow (just a few that have been mentioned by fans around Timo), I take that.
SJ isn’t looking to take 10+ years to rebuild. If Holtz is the best prospect offered than sure but all of those guys are similar to Holtz and fill much more of a need than Holtz. I like Holtz too just not exactly what we need.
I genuinely do not think he has an NHL future. I’d be trying for Vilen or Casey.Mukhamadulin
Is he going to come to the NHL? If so, I’d take him.Mukhamadulin
At least with those bad contracts, they're easy to manage other than Couture and Vlasic. I think Couture is still tradeable but probably not without retention which would tie up all our retention slots assuming Karlsson goes with retention as well. It's going to be rough until 2026.Players worth more than we’re paying them:
Meier
Labanc
Karlsson
Hertl
Benning
Barabanov
Approximately rightly paid:
Bonino
Sturm
Megna
Nieto
Definitely overpaid:
Lorentz
Kunin
Gregor
Stupidly overpaid:
Lindblom
Reimer
Simek
Couture
Holy f***ing Christ on a stick:
Vlasic
Kahkonen
Ferraro
Honestly, this checks out.
And that’s why Michkov makes sense! He can’t come over before than anyway. At least with those bad contracts, they're easy to manage other than Couture and Vlasic. For Gregor and Lorentz, perhaps they are overpaid on a % basis, but nominally it can't be considered an overpay.Definitely overpaid:
Lorentz
Kunin
Gregor
Because his contract is an achor. Couture has 14 years in his legs. He's dropped off from being a 60-70pt Center with mid 50s to 60 Corsi and 50% Face off percentageIf Timo and EK are being shopped and looks likely to move. Why isnt Couture? He just going down with the ship? I know he doesnt have a ton of value but weird to hear nothing about him on the market. If Timo and EK are out why would any vets who want to win stick around.
If they don't get Bedard, they don't have much of a choice anyway but we're probably not getting either of them. lolAnd that’s why Michkov makes sense! He can’t come over before than anyway.
Sure, and I think that Couture is definitely movable the way Burns was movable. Vlasic is the only truly disgusting contract at the moment. I just thought it was funny how bad a lot of those players graded out, so much so that they’re millions of dollars below replacement level. At least with those bad contracts, they're easy to manage other than Couture and Vlasic. I guess we should take on Pelletier for doing them a favor since Sutter obviously hates him.I bet Darryl Sutter could fix Ferraro. So... Ferraro to the flames pls.
I guess Logan would be a 40-50 pt center... if the season ended next week.Because his contract is an achor. Couture has 14 years in his legs. He's dropped off from being a 60-70pt Center with mid 50s to 60 Corsi and 50% Face off percentage
to a 40-50 pt center with Corsi of 50% Not sure how much he has left in the tank, which other GMs are questioning as well.
He's coming over next year. He stopped into Utica last season for a couple games after the KHL season. Is he going to come to the NHL? If so, I’d take him.
I'd do 1st+Holtz+Muk+Wood in a heartbeat. He's coming over next year. He stopped into Utica last season for a couple games after the KHL season.
Devils would do something like
1st Rounder
Holtz
and one of Mukhamadulin or Villen
I also wonder if the Devils need to throw salary the other way to make it work in the form of:
Andreas Johnsson
Miles Wood
And I wonder if SJ would ask to swap out Reimer for Blackwood.
Wood is a UFA, he'd be a cap dump from the Jersey side. I don't think the Devils can sign him, certainly not with a Meier dealI'd do 1st+Holtz+Muk+Wood in a heartbeat.
I’d do Holtz+Vilen+1st+3rd+Johnsson+Blackwood for Reimer+Timo pretty easily. He's coming over next year. He stopped into Utica last season for a couple games after the KHL season.
Devils would do something like

Holtz
and one of Mukhamadulin or Villen
Maybe Sharangovich
