Charlie O: (paraphrasing)

“It’s not that ownership doesn’t care, but there is an another reason why this organization is in a state of stagnation.

There is a fear from ownership that cleaning house will lead to a backlash they tasted a few years ago when they got heat for not respecting the Flyers DNA/history, that they were just corporate shills.

They hope that the people coming into the office every day, and saying they know what they are doing - are right, because they fear the negative reaction from cleaning house”

I feel we all knew this anyway as it’s pretty clear this is an ownership issue.

Gutless from top to bottom.

It’s just a catch right. Why would you willingly alienate the people that worship you, and how you played the game as gods.

Maybe it’s a woe is me thing, but this really isn’t a team for many of us. They don’t care about a large majority of their fanbase.

I’m 32, I’ll be very impressed if in 10yrs time we see anything close to a team like how Tampa or Carolina are run. Hell even NYR, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Detriot or Montreal who accepted even they aren’t too historically legendary to rebuild properly.

Because that’s how long this is taking. You will need to see some long winters do their job to lot of these guys, but that’s the reality. Briere isn’t changing shit.

I’d like for them to continue to try, and be a more physical team in the league because I do feel the sport has lost too much of that - but so many other aspects of this “culture”, and how to build a modern club without suckling at the teet of FA need to be destroyed.

It's gonna take probably a couple dozen people dying or retiring.

Everything needs to be burnt down and start over. There are very few players I would keep around. Everything else can go.
Been saying it for years. We need outside voices. People who understand what needs to be done to be successful, but as been said already that isn’t going to happen until people die because these old good ole boys will never be fired. If anything they will bring in their friends and people who are owed a favor who are clueless as f***.
Deep down I have no hope things are going to change. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Modern Offensively-minded Coach Torts

From 2017-2019, with Columbus, Tortorella's PP was dead last in the league in BOTH xGF/60 and GF/60. That's a Michel Therrien like melding of bad results and process. Even with Panarin, Werenski, Jones, Atkinson, Dubois, Duclair, Bjorkstrand. They were 15th in ES GF/60 in that time. That simply should not be. Panarin + Werenski alone was a top 5-10 QB duo.

That coach hired as his PP coach the guy who, in his 1 season, took the Sharks to the 27th ranked PP in GF/60. With Karlsson, Burns, Kane, Hertl, Couture, Meier.

It's an "I don't know what I expected...." moment. Tortorella has a major issue with PPs, even delegating to his assistant, which I pointed out before he was hired for a team that has recently had PP issues. Lo and behold, the Flyers are dead last in BOTH xGF/60 and GF/60. Fletcher whined about the PP struggles, with far superior PP talent in previous seasons, but like most things, the man radiates incompetency and only makes things worse.

They're going to hire Danny Briere as GM and not even bother interviewing outside candidates and the organization is going to be bewildered when a large chunk of the fanbase is still furious.

For a bit I thought he was a good candidate to start turning things around but now I feel he isn’t going to change things so long as the 3 headed clown is still around

And none of the scouts will change. All the failures will remain in place. The failures who have taught Briere how to be a sad loser just like them.

Fletcher bitched about the PP, then traded away three elite PP players in the same year. He kept the guys who were ruining the PP with their cement hands and tiny brains; Provorov and Hayes

Just bad luck, honestly. I blame Hextall.

"Someone people", like they aren't relatives of people in the organization.

"We've been catering to the Deadheads and the Ghostbeers of the fanbase for decades! Why hasn't it made the team good?!"

Team is perma-sewered until the higher ups stop appealing to the mouth breathing authentic fans. News at 11.
what exactly is your mindset? we tear the whole team down and we are cup contenders in 2 or 3 years?

coyotes, sabres, oilers plan, yeah ok, im not going to wait 20 to 25 years for a cup building that way, if you want live in that world maybe you should root for those teams then. flyers arent tanking, get over it or root for someone else.

The thing that's baffling is that for some spectacular reason Comcast doesn't understand that a winning team would lead to more revenue. If they knew that, Fletcher woulda been fired in the middle of last season/at the end of the 11 game losing streak this season. Flutch is like a cockroach in a nuclear holocaust.

I wish I could be as bad as my job as Fletcher is at his and still keep my job.

I don’t agree with Briere being in line with the rest of the FO. He may be but I haven’t seen any evidence of that. All that I see is Fletcher and the Dinos clutching the reins of power with all of their might. People cite Briere not making moves as proof that he’s in with Fletcher. It probably is that Fletcher won’t do anything that Briere suggests. There is some indication that Briere and Tortorella have some common ground. Perhaps these two can gather some strength to push through the types of changes that need to be made in the organization from top to bottom.

No, he said "be smart" which is not the Coyotes/Sabres/Oilers plan. Pay attention.

The Flyers are going to be waiting longer than 20-25 years to be good if they don't completely change how they do business. We are already halfway there.

If Briere wasn't in lockstep with the Cronyarchy he wouldn't be here.

"Being smart" isn't tanking. "Being competent" isn't tanking.

You're screaming and howling against people saying they wish the team would be well run. That's almost as unhinged as the time you admitted you'd be angry if they win more than one Cup.

There’s been no evidence that he’s not in bed with them.

Who here is citing Briere not making any moves as proof of anything? He isn’t the GM. He doesn’t make moves.

It's been 13 f***ing years since this team was last truly competitive, and they almost didn't make the playoffs that year! What's the definition of insanity again?

You deserve this f***ing team.
