He's looking so hard for centers because his prized center FA that he had no choice but to overpay for is currently playing wing.

His entire managerial career might as well be defined by "looking for centers." The Wild struggled with it: Coyle was a centerpiece in the Burns trade, Staal became their 1C as a 32 y.o. UFA (maybe Fletcher's best move), Fletcher got eviscerated in that Hanzal trade. In 9 years, Fletcher drafted ONE NHL center: Eriksson Ek (and he didn't develop until after he left). Seems impossible, but it's true.

The greatest boondoggle in NHL managing is "looking for centers." You get them or you don't. The looking is where the desperation happens. So, when Fletcher, continuing his pattern, spends $50MM on Hayes, and drafts a quasi-center 5th overall, and makes winger Noah Cates a 1C, and even tries Farabee at center......he shows you how desperate and clueless he is for the position.

But why is a bottom 5-10 team over multiple years "looking for centers"? Sure, long-term, yes. But with relevance to the near future/trade deadline? That implies they're giving up assets for a center, or in the event of a Provorov-level trade, they want an NHL center. Door A is shit and Door B is shit. Why is this putrescent manager still in charge?

Clarke was also obsessed with Centers. Im sure he and Fletcher talk about it often while fighting for scraps at Flahr's feet under the executive lunch buffet table.

You should be obsessed with centers, but that's different from having the capabilities, vision, and patience to acquire them. Say what you want, but they did get good (great) centers -- and lots of them -- for decades. They're a fallen organization right now, and I think we should nuke them from orbit to be extra safe.

They were really good -- I had the smoked BBQ wings. Melted off the bone. Their sauce was really f***ing tasty. Had some kick.

Yup that's the move right there. I get them dry and the BBQ sauce on the side so I can pour some on there and dip them as well. Try that next time. This way you gets bites of just pure smoked chicken deliciousness...and then bites with BBQ as well.

Add in that a top-5 draft pick pressure-converted from winger is already talked about in the Wells Echo Center as a top-6 C next season.

And Comsuck doesn’t care.
They obviously don’t when you add up all of the money that he’s blown on bad deals for the organization-$50M on Hayes; $25M on AV; $25M on Risto; $10M on TDA and the list goes on. I can’t think of too many corporations where a member of management could blow over $100M and still have a job.

Friedman mentioned Laughton possibly as a trade candidate for Toronto today on a Toronto based podcast. Toronto was apparently interested in him a few deadlines ago when he was a pending UFA before he decided to re-sign with the Flyers. He said he’s not sure what the Flyers willingness would be to move Laughton though.

During the whole segment he said Toronto is looking for forwards with term.

It’s amazing how much of a shit hole this franchise is in. JVR will most likely be moved and recoup the 2nd rounder we traded for that asshole TDA.

Other than JVR, who are they going to even consider. Konency is the only other player who probably has value. Provorov too but he’s more an off-season move I would figure with his publicity and bullshit this year.

Any chance Kevin Hayes gets traded if we retain 16% to bring his cap down to $6M? Almost surely we would get nothing in return.

They are up shits creek without even a f***ing boat right now. Franchise is probably at least 3/4 years from even being competitive for a playoff opportunity. It’s horrific the state of this team and their future.

I don't want to live in a world where even Prongo can't even fantasize about acquiring good players. It's dark and cold and I don't like it.
