NHL leaders, 5 v 5 points per 60 minutes (minimum 30 games played):

1. Daniel Sprong
2. Tage Thompson
3. Jeff Skinner
4. Elias Pettersson
5. Morgan Geekie
6. Roope Hintz
7. Matt Tkachuk
8. Jack Hughes
9. Sidney Crosby
10. Jared McCann
11. Andrei Kuzmenko
12. Alex Tuch

Few people realize Daniel Sprong, Morgan Geekie, Jared McCann, & Alex Tuch are among the elite of the elite offensive players in hockey.

One of these days a front office will get smart with their rate vs counting stats & quit paying inferior 5 on 5 scorers like McDavid, Draisaitl, Pasternak, & Gaudreau huge cap hits, when they could get even more production simply by giving the Sprongs, Geekies, McCanns & Tuchs more minutes.

You're truly excellent at strawmanning. It's really something else.

Maybe someday you should try honest discussion. Maybe then we can finally find out if your think Hagg is better then Ghost or not.

Quite disappointing to see where they are in the standings. The top 4-5 seem to be getting cemented a little more, with the Flyers happily moving out of that range.

Another lengthy losing streak is imperative, or this is just a wasted season in the grand scheme.

5th, and say 7th OA is such a failure in what should have been back to back rebuilding seasons.

As a business owner, would you rather hire the employee that takes 40 hours to finish a specific project, or the employee that takes 20 hours to finish the same exact project? It's really not that hard of a concept.

I mean, every season where the entire front office hasn't been cleared out is wasted.

In a realistic view, as much as I want that I can't see it happening. The cancer that is "Flyer hockey" has spread too far.

The more I think about this, I don't see an out other than pure blind luck. They aren't drafting enough elite talent later on with this idiotic scouting staff. They aren't taking steps to put themselves into position to draft high.

I just cant wrap my head around how there are people actively spending money to attend.

What's funny is that you post stats like this as well....when it suits your argument.

I assume you get it now.

Briere shouldn't be the GM. He should be tossed out with everyone else, right now. Otherwise it simply doesn't matter. Every arrangement of the same pieces will make the same results.
Get what? He will be the GM.

Guys, making $40 an hour and $20 an hour is actually the exact same thing.

Either way, you're going to eventually earn that $40, even if it takes twice the time. $40 is $40, the rate you make it is irrelevant.
Great analogy. Thanks for simplifying it for me.

My expectation is that the Flyers win percentage will slide as the season goes on. That three game road trip to California followed by a home game with the Coyotes was a sweet spot that won’t reoccur again. Look for more losses due to a tougher schedule in the future.
Also some of the vets (JVR, Hayes or Laughton, Provorov and Braun, Brown, McEwan?)) will be moving out via trade or waivers. New guys will be brought in who will need some time to adjust to the NHL level of play.

Just spent too much time on those cap websites.

I am literally begging Chuck to move salary and take on a bad contract or two for picks. Begging him.

Here’s a few scenarios for ya.

Charlie O said it would take a big move from the organization to signal they are pivoting towards a rebuild.

The move he was talking about was trading Konecny. The rest of the crew agreed. The reasoning they gave is that he’s overachieving this year because, well, there‘s no one else to do it, and that will cause him to be overpaid on his next contract. Also, yhey think he will be past his prime and overpaid by the time the next batch of young guys comes around.

The other scenario was mentioned by ASF on the latest Snow the Goalie. He thinks the Flyers might trade one of their goalies for assets once they’ve evaluated what they have. Sandstrom wouldnt return very much, but Hart or Ersson would.

So, would you make either of these moves?

Trading Konecny is a tough one. He's the kind of player you want to be part of your core to build your team around. Not a franchise player, but he brings personality and identity to a lineup that needs it.

But on the other hand his value will never be higher than this year. Reminds me a lot of the Simmonds dilemma.

I said in other post, which you fail to quote, that I did not see where the flyers said he was in concussion protocol. Don't tell part of the story.
Tortorella is the Flyers coach. :dunce:

Correct it doesn't. It is a precaution. A player may or may not have one.
And he did have one, despite your desperate attempts to minimize the damage done to his head by that useless oaf, Ristolainen.

Yes, trading Ersson for a 3rd would solve the rebuild. The brain trust gets it.

Even with Hart. How much would he likely yield in a trade this summer? Maybe a like a late first plus maybe like a B level pick/prospect? There isn’t really a robust trade market for goaltending.

I doubt Ersson would have enough sample to make them comfortable parting with Hart this summer & like you said I doubt that sample is enough to likely yield more than like a third rounder.

I was kind of laughing during that segment because they were talking trades & then they wandered off into the Canadian WJC scandal.

But to me the biggest more realistic takeaway is that Hart is up for a new deal in the summer of 2024. In theory Ersson if he gets games in this season & next that sample might be enough to give an idea of what you have. So you don’t have to hand Hart a blank check. Now this is the Flyers & they might just end up handing Hart the blank check regardless because that’s the path of least resistance & we can’t let our “franchise goalie” go.
