I’ve been perfectly clear. Multiple times.

If someone wants to respond to my post (which was directed at no specific person), ignore what I’m saying, then talk about something else, that’s on them.
How do you think a Chris Simon - Lindros - Tocchet line would would make out in today's game? barely 4th liners?

 Holy shit

McDavid and MacKinnon don’t have to be equals for you to understand the point. I must be getting trolled.

As I very clearly explained, by “elite prospects” I’m talking about guys who projected to be franchise star players. McDavid and MacKinnon are that now and we’re expected to be that when redrafted. Gauthier isn’t even close to either.

You went from top tier to elite to then equating a generational player to an elite player. You're just sliding your scale arbitrarily as you see fit.

McDavid's and MacKinnon's draft profiles were so wildly different.

I've got work to do so I'm done here.

Simon wouldnt be in the league, tocchet in today's nhl is a bottom 6 fwd and lindros is even better than he was due to all the rule changes going in the fwd favor

That's not any bias either I liked tocchet but he's not fast enough nor skilled enough for today's nhl, Simon would just be suspended every game

Wrong. The scale has remained the same.

"Top tier" and "elite" mean the same thing. Elite is the top tier.

And as I've repeated multiple times now, an elite/top tier prospect is someone who projects to be a franchises star player. McDavid vs MacKinnon is irrelevant nitpicking, point is both were expected to become franchise players when they were drafted.

If it's really going to bother you this much then just forget McDavid because he's an anomaly. Instead focus on guys like MacKinnon, Matthews, Hughes, and that type of franchise star player. Gauthier is still nowhere close to what they were viewed as when they were prospects. He's not elite, top tier, or whatever wording you prefer.

Simon would be in the league, disagree on that. Watching 88 in todays game would be hilarious. He would also probably be suspended!!! There would not be a more feared player than 88 if he played today.

Sometimes you have zero objectively to the situation. Heck you don't believe Gretzky was the best or anywhere close to the best so that's a bit telling.
This was quite generous of you.

I can't even imagine what Lindros would have been like in today's game where you can no longer "clutch and grab." and there's no hitting a defenseless player. He would have been unstoppable.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be in the league because of his skill set lol just that he'd be banished to the shadow realm in one season lol and yeah but lindros could rely on his size, skill, speed, and strength without needing to be suspended is what I mean, but lindros would def be an even better player today

Cutter to me looks like a 20 or so goal scorer in the nhl. Not sure he is going to be too productive here.

I think the flyers need a franchise 1C, 1D, and another very strong top 6. If they get that in the next two drafts they will be very good but that’s a large ask.

He'll be fine, but I would have rather went with Jiricek who looks to become a #2 d-man which is obviously far more valuable.

Should have 100% taken the D. Cant wait until the Russian falls into the their lap and they pass.

Also need a coach and GM!!

The Laughton points brought up here are very illustrative of the issue this club clearly has with rebuilding while Torts is here. As long as torts has the power he does, the rebuild will be severely hampered because they won't move guys like him.

Laughton is 28, on a friendly deal, and has the "intangibles" that many idiot GM's love. I'd be shocked if he's not dealt this summer.

He's very valuable around the league. However, the indication that the FULL regime isn't going to be turned over bodes poorly for them starting to have proper process

Gauthier is 19, big players tend to take longer to develop b/c one reason they're big is a growth spurt in their teens, and it can take a little time to develop body control. Beware of the big man who is polished at a young age, less upside (worse case was Phillies giving $4M to 15 year old Ortiz b/c he was literally a man among boys, now he's a man among better men).

He's had a good freshman year in college, on a team with limited talent. He's still learning to play center, but to complain that he was put at LW with Cooley at center is kinda silly.

How good of a center will he be? His playmaking seemed to improve in college, but he's probably never going to excel there. The key will be his defensive play - a big fast center who understands defense can be a dominant two way player.

If his defense doesn't develop, his future will be as a sniper at LW, and his shot is good enough for 30 goal potential (the reason the Flyers focused on snipers is b/c good defensive teams limit "dirty" goals, and the Flyers have lacked top shooters).

That's exactly what I've been saying, he's to lackadaisical when it comes to defending to be counted on being a center, not saying he can't be a center, but as of right now, it certainly looks likes he's going to be a lw, which is fine by me, if he's more useful at wing then leave him there, but right now he's not a center, and doesn't look like he has the tools to be a center
