No forward in the TBL v PHI game played less than Tippett (yes, including all of TBL players like Point, Stamkos, and Kucherov). Only 3 players had higher Even Strength TOI (2 Dmen and 1 F) and Tippett played the 2nd most minutes in the entire game and was 1 minute behind Sergachev for total TOI.

Now that Torts is changing the lineup based on getting Tippett playing time, he is our franchise player. Dear lord

Not an issue, my friend. I go back to Mike Barr's original O&B Board and before that, the alt.hockey.nhl.philadelphia-flyers.net usegroup!

I'm still FB friends with Mike Barr, have kept touch with Dave Kilgore and, of course, people may not realize that Bill Meltzer got his start writing game reviews there, in the days before satellite TV. Kids these days don't know how lucky they are! We could only get game summaries in the paper and some highlights on TV, but we relied on those detailed written summaries to know how the games went.

Now you can watch all the games, and see the video summaries right after. Unfortunately, they aren't worth watching, but at least they are there...

I'm not sure that's right. I think Deadhead is only a few years on here, isn't he? You can check the dates, he's a pup.
I was just pointing out his age. I seem to remember reading a post of his that put him a couple of years older than me. the on the board since the early 90’s was only referencing myself. You were probably there too. There was a good poster named Stanley who used to post here back then as well. There was a guy named Homer Jones like the old Giants WR who used to post here during the Lindros trade debates. He was a highly opinionated Rangers fan, who was a stand up guy. History.
I used to go to the Orange and Black too, but was mostly a HF guy.

Torts is just pushing Tippett, he's a big strong boy who can skate with a high motor. He got bounced around in FLA, now Torts is force feeding him. And the kid is responding.

You wouldn't do that to Frost, b/c he might break. He did have the most 5x5 minutes last night.

How do we think the mood in the room is almost two years after Chuck committed to changing it?

“We just can’t keep bringing the same players back year after year and expect different results. We had to make changes this year,” Fletcher said. “The players that we’ve added are all what I would call high energy, competitive people. How often have we talked about our slow starts over the past two, three years since I’ve been here and allegedly a lot longer than that?

“We need some juice. We need some energy. We need to change the mood in the room and the energy in the room. It’s nothing against the players that we had here before. It’s about trying to create a new group, a new leadership group, new chemistry. All these guys we have acquired besides being good hockey players bring a lot of those qualities, bring a lot of experience, bring a lot of professionalism to our roster.”

Has it occurred to you that maybe you're projecting?
Want me to start a poll here on who people think is the one that's projecting?

Where do you come up with this stuff .
A very dark, strange place.

Frost is the same size as Giroux, who has barely missed a game in 15 years playing 19:32 a night. It's bizarre to suggest you need to be a "big strong boy" to get a lot of ice time. Or that a "big strong boy" is less likely to get injured. Eric Lidros was the biggest, strongest hockey boy you'll ever see.

He looked lost on the penalty kill last night, that's for sure.

this team needs more dick stabbing rasict assholes..

need to get back to broad street bullies..

even if the rest of the league has advanced to the 20th century...

TDAs own comment showed how useless face punchers are in todays NHL.

"I asked him to fight and he said no"..

right that eliminates 100% the need for a goon.. skill players will skate around them and laff in their face

but Hey Philly! keep on keeping on... hahaa

Did anyone read/post this yet?

If it can be believed, there's some good info here.

With things being worse than ever in Philadelphia, a major front office facelift is likely on the horizon. There had been speculation of Fletcher retaining his role as President of Hockey Ops while instilling a new GM, but it appears that ship has sailed.
I’ve heard whispers that while Fletcher is not innocent and shoulders a heavy amount of blame for what has gone on as the face and leader of Hockey Ops, he is far from the only thing wrong with the organization. Specifically, there’s been some chatter about the impact the team’s Senior Advisors (Bill Barber, Bob Clarke, Paul Holmgren and Dean Lombardi) are having on the organization.
A few weeks back, Comcast Spectacor (the Flyers parent company) introduced a new CEO: Dan Hilferty. Self described as a “long-time Philadelphian,” Hilferty is a big-time power broker in the area, as SanFilippo broke down in depth on Crossing Broad following the announcement of the hiring. As I was told yesterday, the timing of this hiring should not be looked at as a coincidence.

Is Hilferty going to spearhead an organizational facelift? At this point, I really can’t say for certain what his role (or anyone’s from Comcast) will be as it relates to the Flyers and who will be put into place, but it feels like major changes are coming.

Apparently, everyone could be fired but Briere would likely be GM (even though that isn't certain). I'll take it (for now).

The only thing that can help Briere being the GM is that there are others around him that aren't that core group of chucklef***s. If there are up and coming people that are from outside the organization around Briere, then it might be okay. But who the f*** knows, he might be a clone of Chuck too.

Giroux was a conditioning fanatic, which is why he's still effective at 35.
He was much stronger than Frost,

Need more size! Would be peak flyers to tank right after the Bedard draft

This is total speculation.
For one thing, TK is one of Tort's favorite players.

In theory, they should trade him. Two years left for a team that has no shot at competing. Won't be viewed as a rental. He and Provorov are their (only) two paths towards premium assets.

In reality, they are going to get taken to the woodshed unless a savvy hockey mind somehow makes it into that building.

I don't want to be that guy but... literally none of that is good info. He's taking things that others have heard or tweeted about and act like he's the one with the sources.

He hasn't heard from anyone in the organization about any of that.

It's fine to be that guy - I certainly don't take it as gospel. It's all speculation in the end.

This shit is written by the newest rising star lol gtfoh

But hey if it happens, yay

Wow pretty nuts that he wouldn't have made it to Christmas if I was GM. And He Who Stands Up For What He Believes In would have been gone by Thanksgiving. Would have been real fun to do it on the same day, like Richards/Carter

If this is a reason to keep him, they're not just incompetent. They're in @Striiker's too high on them territory.

And it might be. I'm not even saying you're wrong.
It's a balance, while it's tempting to trade everyone, you end up with a team with players 20-24 years old that folds at the first breathe of winter. You need a few veteran anchors even when rebuilding, obviously, if Couts can return, he's perfect for that role. But TK brings a high motor and compete level, and that both rubs off and take pressure off younger players.

Provorov on the other hand, and I'd say Sanheim too, aren't players I'd want at the core of a rebuilding team.
Provorov has the work ethic, but he doesn't seem to have much leadership qualities, and Sanheim is looking like a tease.
