Can't wait to hear whose fault this is. It can't be Tortorella's and it can't be Fletcher's right?
Another well seasoned young player
It's the schedule's fault. There's no practicing on the road and the option to play him isn't a viable one so... yeahCan't wait to hear whose fault this is. It can't be Tortorella's and it can't be Fletcher's right?
It helps that Seeler and Braun are cheap enough to add without cap ramifications for most teams. With all of the defensemen around the league that are banged up right now, the market for replacements should be pretty hot right now. Is it going to be better at the TDL? The Flyers should be able to move someone now to open a slot for Z or York.
not one person here could have called this result..Turns out that revolving door mostly just cycles young players out of the lineup.
I'm far more worried about Fletcher than Hakstol, as Bylsma proved with the Pens, give any coach top talent and they can win despite themselves.
And Sullivan is showing (as Lavi did in Philly) that so-called "brilliant coaches" become average when forced to play bad goalies.
Fletcher has the chance to finish the job if he can exercise restraint and not try to roll the dice for one or two years, there's a cap, blow your young talent on a few overpriced veterans and you'll be in cap hell and headed toward the basement within five years.
On the other hand, a series of smart, measured trades, not trying to make a big splash but strategically moving players in and out to create better chemistry, reliable depth, and a nice balance of youth and experience could put this team over the top - but it requires patience and judgement.
This is probably the right thread.Oops wrong thread. Oh well.
I'm happy to give Briere a chance to show what he can do as GM, ASAP. It's not like we get to pick who Fletcher's replacement will be. We just get to hope Fletcher is fired for four years of objectively poor results.
Pretty proud of myself for not posting something mindlessly dumb in that thread.Scratch that, my favorite post was when a user called AppleyardIsAStooge quoted Appleyard to say "Stooge!" and nothing else.

The optics of just hiring from within without pursuing any outside options is just peak Flyers.
If Fletcher is “let go” in season? Not a chance. Briere will be introduced immediately and it’ll be announced in the same press release as Fletcher’s “promotion.”Wonder if they even bother with the token "look we searched" interview of some washed up garbage bag that's been ripped open by crows.

If he somehow survives the season? Maybe but still probably not.
I’m sure they at least called Mike Milbury. The optics of just hiring from within without pursuing any outside options is just peak Flyers. It’s only compounded with where the franchise is currently at.
It comes down to senior Comcast executives, if they retain Scott, or replace him with a similar figurehead, there won't be drastic changes.
If they bring in a dynamic executive with the mandate to "fix" the organization, all bets are off.
Ah, so now Comcast is the big bad evil.
Dave Scott has very little to do with hockey operations and roster building.
