He was never a great skater but he definitely looks worse post-core injuries. Of course he looks better skating towards the offensive zone than on the backcheck or in the DZ in general so it's possible he's just sandbagging.

I didn't even realize they took him off the PK. Remember how "great" he looked in Year 1?
i cant tell if this post is about hayes or ristolainen lmaoo

I listened to the recent NRD podcast with the Flyers/Fletcher talk. Nothing too earth shattering. He said they’re gonna switch out Briere with Fletcher soon. He said Fletcher won’t be outright fired. Fletcher will retain his President title. He made it seem like the Flyers are going to let Fletcher’s contract expire out opposed to paying him to go away right away.

He said the transition to Briere will becoming with a rebuild approach going forward. So he said to start expecting more names off the Flyers roster out in trade talks once that happens. He mentioned Provorov specifically & even mentioned LA as a potential landing spot.

Not a single person could have predicted that that’s how the franchise would handle this.

It’s pathetic.

Fletcher should be tarred and feathered on his way out. His body of work doesn’t deserve allowing him to ride off into the sunset.

Hiring Briere, who has no management experience sans Maine, without looking at any outside candidates is just a top notch cherry on the top of this shit sundae.

LA, eh. Hello Lombardi, you can of dehydrated fishmilk.

Nothing actually changes or matters until everyone is fired. Briere is in line because the Cronyarchy likes him. They like him because he agrees with them. Their egos are too brittle and weak to withstand anything else.

Yea at least if they interviewed some other people, they could pretend they're doing their jobs. But they won't. This move was telegraphed the day they gave him his fake job title. Just like all their other moves. I would love, love, love to sit at a poker table with these quiz kids.

How has Dylan Cozens been this year? The stats looks pretty decent. Has he been playing a bit with Quinn?
Like a guy who’s going to get the deal Tage Thompson should have held out for. Cozens has been playing with Quinn and Peterka for a couple weeks and they’ve found immediate success. Cozens is in line to get the kind of extension that the Blues and Sens just gave to their young guys after this year. It’s only going to make Thompson taking the 7.14 million per deal all the more headscratching.

Meh, key is Torts and Briere being able to work together, if they're "kicking" Fletcher upstairs (when does his contract expire?) to save money he'll be out of the loop.

Briere has essentially as much experience as Sakic when he took over in Colorado:

Following the end of his playing career, Sakic continued with the Avalanche organization in a management capacity, first serving as executive advisor and alternate governor from 2011 to 2013. He was promoted to executive vice president of hockey operations on May 10, 2013, and named general manager the following year.

So either he can or can't do the job.

The Cronies love him, so he can't do the job. He is one of them.

And while I'm here, the key is not "Torts and Briere" working together. Tortorella has been left so far behind by the league that if Briere and him see eye-to-eye then the team is doomed. The focus will continue to be dodging and punishing skill while glorifying grinding. The key would be Briere shocking all and being a modern hockey mind, putting him at odds with Tortorella, who has openly admitted to not understanding the current state of offense leaguewide nor even being able to communicate/coach young players.

Fact is, GM is one of those positions where it's almost impossible to know if a candidate will work out.

I mean the Eagles put a lawyer who never played football, never scouted or did anything football related other than fantasy drafting in charge - and it turned out terrible!
