Only one "horrid" trade. The Risto/Ghost sequence.

The others made sense or were so low cost who cares.
What he didn't do (and neither did Hextall) is add significant value in trades other than short-term patches.
But these trades aren't the reason the team sucks.

If the Flyers only had one had move in four years they'd be in great shape.

Yet they're in absolutely horrible shape. So how can this be?

Basically it comes down to Risto/Ghost.
The rest of the moves were non-consequential.
Voracek/Atkinson is a wash.
Grant/Thompson were cheap TDL deals, Braun was a make the playoffs move, and he got the 3rd back (and maybe more this year).
Ellis is on LTIR and the two players traded for him, one is IR and the other a 7th D-man.
No great additions, no great losses. And not the reason this team sucks.

G was the proper move, and no one was offering much more (the rumors with Colorado were Barron and/or Helleson and a 1st, Byram and Newhook were off the table, you wanted Jost?).

TDA can be evaluated at the end of the season.

The dry rot started a decade ago, Fletcher did nothing to reverse it, but didn't start the decline.

Ok, let's turn this around then:

Out of all of those moves, which moves *did* matter to making the team significantly better?

It's death by a 1000 cuts as opposed to an axe. They're both going to kill you - and Fletch has killed us.

How would they be in great shape?
Internally, they've added one player since 2018 worth a damn, that's Farabee.

Add G, Voracek (on IR and playing horribly), and Ghost, and subtract Atkinson, TDA, Tippett and Risto, and you think this is a playoff team?

The rest of the players gone from 2018, only Gudas, NAK (12th forward), Lindblom (4th line), Hagg (6th D-man), Myers (7th D-man), Stolarz (backup goalie) are even in the NHL.

For this to be true it means the many moves Fletcher has made have been bad. You're arguing for my point.

No no no, don't be such a dunce Beef.

What he's saying is very clear: Fletch hasn't done anything to make this team bad...He's just done nothing and the team has become bad on its own, which means it is Hextall's fault since he's the last GM to make actual moves.

How are you not understanding that clear viewpoint? :scared:

I think there is a non-zero chance that Briere is just doing what he has to do to stay in their graces as a target replacement, and that he actually has a brain of his own in which he could use to make good decisions instead of bad ones.

Even though it will help, real meaningful change will require more than just swapping out Fletcher for Briere.

I can't wait to "see" (the invisible) people who absolve Fletcher of all blame today turn around in a few years and finger point at him, saying how it's all his fault that the team is such a mess lol

He's the Flyers sacrificial lamb of God. Gentle, pure, innocent. He was put here to take on the sins of the senior advisors.

Or something like this. It's pretty much baked into their logic.
