Pat Maroon is massively better than Yandle or Thompson or Deslauriers. What are you talking about? There isn't a comparison there.

Who was the Yandle for TB? For Colorado? Who were their league-bottom players?
NAK. Waived twice, went unsigned.

This year, Colorado has a worse fourth line than the Flyers. They let Strum walk, Newhook is awful so far, and they're playing AHL scrubs like Hunt and Megna with Helm out.

AA is going to Lehigh. Meaning that one of the prospects is going to sit and eat popcorn so this slug can get into game shape. I hate this organization
There are a number of ECHL slugs on the LHV roster.

A little luck helps, land one of these guys later in the draft and rebuilding becomes much easier - conversely, if you have to draft in the top 5, you need to really suck for an extended period and not end up with the Patricks and Kakkos instead of a top player.
we need all the luck in the world which is why we need a top 5 this year to get that top center that you alluded to. This is the perfect opportunity to not draft a Patrick type player

NAK is clearly and obviously better than Yandle or Thompson. Far from a league-worst player. He just happens to be on deep teams. Half of this roster wouldn't make Toronto or Colorado. That's another laughable comparison. I'll save you time: those teams don't have league-worst players. They definitely don't have sever of them like Fletcher likes to have.

You're describing a situation where Fletcher has done a truly terrible job.

And we have Couts, Atkinson and JVR on IR, but that's not an excuse?
The Flyers are proud of having this slop in the lineup. They actively pursue it. We have years of evidence of this. The team is not run in merit or talent level. If the Flyers were fully healthy players like Deslauriers, Thompson, and Yandle would still see the ice.

The Avalanche? Not so much.

But then again, they’re pretty much the same organizations.

NAK is confirmed to be worthless trash that the Avs threw away but the Flyers signing an indisputably worse player in Deslauriers to a 4 year contract, for more money, with an NTC, is ackshually not even a mistake.

Same exact orgs. We’re building a foundation, you see.

What have the Flyers done, or what are they trying to do to ensure they get a core that's similar to MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Toews, and Makar?

For an organization that has been openly exposed as trying to model after St Louis, they couldn't hold a candle to the talent on that team either.
Given that Sakic inherited three of them, lucked into Makar, Toews is the only one that was an actual GM move.

So the lesson from Colorado is to really really suck for a long, long time. Like close to a decade.

Of course, if the Flyers did that, the mantra would be why can't they turn it around in four years like Pittsburgh?

Suck for close to a decade?!?! That would be absolutely terrible to have to live through.

Oh wait.
We've made the playoffs 3 of the last 7 years.

I'm talking like bottom 3 for 4 or 5 years the rest of the decade and never sniffing the playoffs bad. Like New Jersey did.

Fans say they want this until they actually live through it, then you have a lot of empty seats.

Hextall had 2 of those appearances, FWIW

Felch has had an inferior reign. Bringing this up because it's true and wanna remind you of his awfulness.

And the Avalanche made the playoffs three times in that "decade of suck" which included a 112 point season and a Division championship. The Flyers never paced for that many points nor have they won a division any time over the past decade.

The Flyers also got throttled every single time they made the playoffs. Great success, much praise.

We lived through it and there are a lot of empty seats. The Flyers have been AWFUL for a decade. If you want to take solace in the fact that they sneak into the playoffs and get boat raced, go right ahead

Making the playoffs isn't an accomplishment.

We are NJ bad. Fletcher has seen to that.

Sakic has also brought in players like Nichushkin, Saad, and Kadri. He played the Duchene situation perfectly.

It's genuinely pathetic for anyone to try to paint these men and organizations in the same stroke.

Just Toews, Girard, Compher, Kadri, Burakovsky, Lehkonen, Nichushkin, Byram, and so on. I mean that’s not bad, but I wouldn’t throw a victory parade over it.

Chuck Fletcher has acquired Ellis, Risto, Atkinson, Hayes, DeAngelo, Deslauriers, Tippett, Yandle, Brown, Seeler. If you’re going to genuflect to Sakic, at least give Fletcher his due.
