The impatience of this fan base is comical.
They didn't commit to rebuilding until they hired Torts, when he made it clear it was a rebuild, and dared the advisors to contradict him.

They're playing Frost and Cates at 1C and 2C, moved Hayes to wing despite a lack of centers, Laczynski is back up, Allison will be playing when he returns - who else is there? Foerster, Wisdom and Desnoyers are 20 and lost significant develop time to injury/COVID the past two seasons. Lycksell is currently injured.

Torts wants his current D-men to play their way on/off the roster before he promotes the kids, Attard, York and Zamula will probably be starting next season, but before then some decisions have to be made with regard to the current crew. And Braun and Seeler are likely to be TDL trade bait.

So the last 20 games of the season will probably see all these prospects in the lineup plus Gauthier when his college season ends. Maybe JOB if they decide to sign him instead of the 2nd rd pick in 2024.

The roster in October 2023 is likely to be significantly different than the roster in October 2022.

It won't take a decade to fix, I'll predict they're competitive by 2025-26, probably 2024-25.

What a load of crap.

Since private xG models are a frequent source of non-specific discussion:

I will say that this is not the usual answer for "best" private model. That would be ClearSight. But also, lol.

i dont understand a lot of these advanced stats things..but i am gonna go out on a limb here and say..being at the bottom is probably bad

Poor Sanheim, gone from a key player to trade bait to obtain #25 & #57 who'll arrive in 2025-26.
Waiting for Frost to go on the HF Board trade block, since he'll 31 in 2030-31 and obviously not part of the rebuild!

I would be interested in seeing the public vs private models for on-ice xGF models. I think those vary a more than the team’s xGF

Giving this shit management team cap space and more picks to f*** up on...we need a deep cleanse. Will it ever happen tho?

Every year there has been a damn excuse: injuries, covid, goaltending. Wonder what it will be this time

holy shit our schedule is insane for the rest of 2022:

only the caps 2x, coyotes, sharks, ducks, cbj are below us and we can easily lose a handful of those.

After the flames loss tonight, we have pens, isles 2x, tampa, avs 2x, devils 2x, vegas, rangers, leafs, canes, kings. No way we can even come out 5 wins out of those 14. I wouldn't even be surprised if we lose them all. Praise the hockey gods lol and we are already close to being in the bottom 10 of the league. Once 2023 starts, I am positive we will be close to bottom 5 haha.

They are way too happy to move the puck from high danger areas all the way to the safe perimeter only to try and get the puck back where it is dangerous. It ain't modern offense.

And it doesn't look to be just a talent issue. Yeah, they now not only forecheck, they use two guys on it, but they're just more aggressively perimetering than they were.

A result of a GM who builds deliberately for perimeter grinding and hires coaches to fit that.

Torts even said he has no interest in X's and O's, which means this guy is the brains behind their ozone strategy lol
