We're really doing the thing where we say that we never said something?

What was all of that "revolving door between LHV and Philadelphia" talk?

Do you remember being assured that my predictions that they'd find guys like Sedlak were wrong? That Tortorella was likely to use Deslauriers as a 12/13 rather than an every night player? That my insistence that Seeler would be a nightly player was wrong and that he was an AHL signing, and that Braun would be a 6/7?

Deslauriers is playing 8+ minutes a night at ES, isn't that the definition of a 12th forward?
With Risto back, Seeler, Braun and Zamula are rotating on the 3rd pair.

Sedlak got picked up, oh, maybe because Couts, Atkinson and JVR are injured? And we have zero center depth at LHV? And because he knows Torts' scheme and approach?

And we're 9 games into the season? Maybe Torts doesn't want to rely on an all rookie squad while he implements his scheme and philosophy?

Let's see what the lineup looks like in March and April (preview of 2023-24) before jumping to conclusions?
We may well see some or all of Gauthier, Foerster, Desnoyers, Lycksell, York and Attard playing at that point.

People complaining about the contract is not necessarily complaining about the player.

The deal was also done four months prior to FA with an impending expansion draft.

Lots of people didn't like PEB as a player, especially after he only had 8 points in his last season as a Flyer which was a fairly miserable one for the team.

Why are people reaching drastic conclusions about Sedlak already?
I have said he looks ok so far. That’s it. So far being the key phrase here

To be a 12/13 you need to be healthy scratched at least once.

When Laczynski and Brown and JVR and Atkinson come back, is ND going to be benched?

I will take things that won’t happen for 1,000 Alex

It costs $500K to bury him down the road, much cheaper than Weise.
Right now, with JVR out, we don't have 3 LWs, unless you count Bellows.
So talking about benching Deslauriers is moot until JVR returns, since one of Cates/Laughton will be playing center.

To bench Deslauriers, both JVR has to return and one of Bellows/Lycksell have to step up.
And given that Deslauriers has some of the best metrics on the team in his sheltered role, they'll have to be more than warm bodies.

You actually wrote that with a straight face? Come on. They aren't rebuilding. They're content with being mediocre and floating like a fresh shit.

Before one rebuilds they need to check what they have in order to see is it’s usable or trash. IMO, that’s what Torts is currently doing.

Hard disagree. Not with Frost and Allison getting minimal minutes and benched for nonexistent problems, Zamula sitting, and York getting sent down to be crippled in the AHL while Sedlak is brought in to ensure Laczynski gets minimal time.

These young guys have never been taught how to play the NHL game. AV/Yeo/Lappy never developed any players. Putting someone on the ice and having them play proper NHL hockey are two different things.
Right now Torts is letting these guys see the pro game up close and dip their toes into that pool. When they get onto the ice their play shows that they have improved over their past performances. As the season goes on their PT will grow. The talent is there. Patience.

This benefit of the doubt never pays off with this team, though.

We shall see. If Torts keeps some of the roster filler around after this year it will tell us that either the young guys were not as good as we thought or Torts is just a Dino lover. From what he did in CBJ he was not a fino lover.

Much of CBJ was driven by GM, and he didn't agree with it. Here we have a GM that will gladly cater to and encourage every old-school whim Tortorella might have.

The GM is CBJ deep sixed the team, and they still haven't recovered. Why he hasn't been fired . . .

The only move during the two years Torts turned that team around was signing Gagner on a one year deal, coming off an awful season in Philly. Then the GM panicked at the TDL, and let Panarin, Bob and others leave.

Dubois for Laine, Torts couldn't wait to get out of town. Laine is exactly what Torts hates.

Oh and I forgot they brought in that sloth Bellows. Another guy to steal ice time from anyone else.
Steal from who? We're kinda short of LWs at the moment with JVR injured, and one of Laughton/Cates forced to play center b/c Cout is injured. Bellows is getting a look, no cost, at worst you waive him on the way to LHV in a couple weeks.

Steal it from any of the long list of prospects you'd assure us would be getting looks.
