Don’t forget cancer. Pronger was even worse because we just restructured the team to allow Pronger be the leader.

But all that said, I don’t believe in bad luck. I think it will all even out over long enough. Which may mean winning a lottery or two for a generational player or two!
The problem is luck doesn't necessarily even out (well, over a big enough population it's likely, but that might be centuries!), the next lottery is independent of the last lottery.

The two players to watch are Hayes and Risto.

Torts already said that while Couts is a solid two way center, he needs to work on Hayes off the puck.

And Torts will ride Risto hard, he won't be a fan of getting out of position to make hits, but he'll like Risto's willingness to block shots and give him more leeway on offense. Torts won't care how much Risto is making, he'll either play the right way or ride the bench.

He turned David Savard into a solid D-man, so we'll see what he can do with Risto.

Risto hasn’t played the right way in his entire career because he doesn’t have enough hockey IQ to do so. But Torts benching him is going to go the way of all your summer predictions, like the one where Nate Thompson was going to be healthy scratched.

"Yandle is just signed as depth, he wont block youth or play all season"..

rumor is that the flyers have made an offer

Frost

For

DeBrincat

Terrible. That 2023 is going to be gold at this rate.

I’ve noticed that Fletcher gets enamored with stuff and has to have it. I can relate but there is a difference between a Frost at Wendy’s for me and the destruction of a franchise.
Where did you find this rumor?

If Hawks were offered that Debrincat would be on his way to Philly for press conference honestly

Doubt very much such an offer has been made though if Hawks are going to move Debrincat an offer like that would be what would probably get them to pull trigger

Have heard no rumors on Debrincat trade outside of what people (Insiders) have said is ask from Hawks and the recent two first+ offer

Facebook and twitter. Very much a rumor, but I’ve seen it a ton so figured I’d bring it here.

The scary part is the that I could see Fletcher going offering it. That 2023 1st has a strong chance for a franchise player.

I hope that I'm wrong but this just doesn't make sense. Debrincat can score, no doubt. However there are two ends of the ice and he has difficulty on the defensive end. He just doesn't seem like the type of player that Torts would want Fletcher to go out of his way to obtain.
I'm willing to bet that the Hawks are the ones circulating this rumor in order to get someone to ante up for their player since they haven't had any offers that they like as of yet.

I’d have to imagine Chicago would have accepted that by now if it was on the table.

But in general this is why it’s pointless of having a lame duck GM around. Fletcher’s playing with house money in terms of what to invest. He knows he’s not going to be around for whatever future fall out. So there’s no downside on his end to push all these chips in now.

The other people in the organization are just as stupid for letting it happen let alone agreeing with it because they’re so scared of a rebuild.

I’ve found myself saying “There’s now way they could really be THAT stupid” a lot over the past few years. I’m usually wrong.

I think I would honestly tune out the team as long as Fletch is around.

That would be 3 straight 1st round picks given away, including one in a generational draft in which we have a high chance of being a lottery team. One of those picks - along with two 2nds, a 7th, and a roster player - was used to make space for, and acquire Ristofreakinlainen.

And that team finished 28th overall in the NHL.

f*** no.

The deal would be done if this was true.

I’m torn between having Frost moved first or getting to watch him cry during his first practice with Torts.

Posting rumors without sources is BS.

for example, this contradicts that rumor:

Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus of The Athletic believe that the Blackhawks would pull the trigger on a DeBrincat deal if they received the right offer, and suggest that could be a top-10 pick and a quality prospect. That may seem like a disappointing return to fans who are hoping for a franchise-altering haul for their young star.

The danger here is that we all think and likely other GMs think Fletcher is capable of signing off on a deal like this. It’s damage control, but we have to at least keep 2022-2024 1sts that are ours and the Fla pick.
Think people are reading too much into the Risto deal, a 1st and 2nd wasn't that outrageous, Chariot got a 1st, 4th and a prospect at the TDL. GMs overrate physical D-man so the market overprices them.

Don't confuse what was paid (generally market rates) with the wisdom of the acquisition.
Fletcher doesn't get ripped off, his problem is an organization that encourages short-term "win now" moves.

Is there a list of UFA goalies somewhere? I know originally Fletcher said he might bring in a 3rd goalie to compete with Sandstrom and Fedotov for the backup spot, but with it looking less and less likely that Fedotov is available to play this season, I'd have to think he signs someone.

The problem with Fletcher is he gets obsessed with a guy. Sometimes, it seems, based off how that player plays 4 games against his team. If he sees DeBrincat as someone who obviates the need for a play driving center and more importantly gets fans back in, he could just have blinders to get his man.
