Stranges just tried the Michigan during an offensive zone possession drill. Off the bar and out tho

Also as expected, Stankoven looks like he's a level above everyone else on the ice

Morrison's IQ definitely stands out too

It sounds like Dallas' "assignment" Stranges referred to was tied to him being able to sign a contract. I kind of like that. I wonder if that's something they do with everyone. Also, is that a common thing for other teams to do.

I know @Starry Knight mentioned Stranges really seemed to focus on his all-around game and improved it quite a bit from the start of the year. That's the thing that makes the most sense to have been his assignment. I wonder if they said we know you can score, do that, but if you want a contract, we want to see that you can improve as an all-around player.
It makes sense for lower picks for the Stars to let them know on what they would need to see from a player to show that they can be a player at the next level.

How do Kyrou and Fegaras look?

How do Kyrou and Fegarges look?

Fegaras was really impressive. Super skilled and smooth with the puck

Kyrou looked good as well and scored in the mini tournament, but Fegaras was the best looking dman there today for sure. Team White had both of em

I took some video, not sure if I got him in it or not but I'll check over what I got and see if it's any good :laugh:it's not a lot but it's a couple minutes worth.

Team White with the 3 Kamloops players, Fegaras, and a couple other guys won over Stranges & Team Green. Here's Stankoven accepting the boot trophy on behalf of Team White. Stankoven easily had the most goals of anyone in the mini tournament. Also had a nice shootout goal. Also a good shot of Logan Morrison for @BG44

Good to hear. He looks like he could be a potential steal. Maybe MrHeiskanen won’t be pissed about the pick eventually.

Johnston not participating much (even if due to injury) also makes me think they don’t feel the need to see him in this setting. Reinforces what they’ve said about him having every opportunity to earn a top 9 spot.

I hope that’s the case. His lack of participation has me thinking no Dallas Stars this year, surgery and lost development time this year.

“Tweaked my back today, just watching that”. Doubt it’s serious.

He is injured. Him making the roster is very low % chance at this point.

Stankoven confirmed he's going to the World Juniors, and I think that makes sense for him. He's probably got the longest odds of the Big 3 to make the NHL roster. No word on Bourque or Johnston yet, but after listening to Peverley, I get the feeling at least 1 or both may not participate. Many other top Canadians it seems that have legitimate shots at the NHL have already pulled out. I think Neighbors (St. Louis) was the last I saw that opted out.

With Kamloops hosting the Memorial Cup next year and especially with Stankoven beeing from Kamloops too . Him going back to junior next year just makes sense.

In general i think you're right. If the team thinks someone has a shot at the NHL next season having them play World Juniors in August doesn't make much sense. Don't want to burn anybody out.

I don't think it's that far fetched for Stankoven to make the team. Imo, he has as good of a shot as Johnston and might even be more physically ready (which seems crazy to say, but it's a little beast out there and has a slight skating advantage too ). But if he shows any signs of possibly not being able to handle it they'll send him back without hesitation so he needs to be really really impressive. Man I'd love to see him make it. I'd love to see all 3 but there's a better chance of none making it than all 3

Watching him today, everything he does is just a level above his peers. He's too good for junior hockey. Tough spot with him being eligible to go back, I hope he gets a good chunk of preseason games.

I'm all about patience with prospects and being sensible and all that garbage but every time I've doubted Stankoven in the slightest he has proven me wrong in a big way.

He's going to make it a very hard decision, at a minimum.

Even Peverley was not so sure about him going back to junior. Talked about how his size doesn't impact his game at all and he doesn't expect it to be a significant issue at the pro level, even if he were to play this season because of how strong he is on his skates. He would immediately be the most agile player on the Stars if he made the roster. Plus, in the drills today where they shortened the ice and made them play a super fast pace and tight game, he stood out by a mile amongst almost everyone else in terms of decision-making, pace of play, and skating. He might even be the leading candidate for a roster spot between him and Johnston since what Johnston has as a weakness is very clear (his strength).

Training camp will answer a lot of questions though, cause obviously the guys he played against today aren't even close to the competition he will see there. Just frustrating these are his only 2 options cause he's clearly too good for the junior level. Johnston as well

I don't think Stankoven himself sees making the NHL as his goal for this fall . With Johnston you can already hear it . Stankoven talked about how special the memorial cup in his hometown will be.

Call it a hunch, but it's completely within Stankoven's character to spend all summer preparing and then put in his best possible effort in camp.

Not even just that - the team can still send him down later in the season if he really wants to play in the memorial cup. Chances are the Stars season is done by then anyway.

Here yall go - the few videos I took today at development camp. Would've taken more but I didn't get a great view to video for the other drills/was only concerned with the shootout and mini 3v3 scrimmages (there were more than just this one they did quite a few all over the ice). It's not much but figured I'd share, twitter destroyed the quality tho

The talking in the video is from some girls next to me. Unfortunately they're very loud
