Have to wonder if the Stars would've picked Morrison in the 7th round had they not traded it away

Hopefully he leaves a good impression

Where was Morrison projected to go in the draft? I kept seeing his name on the draft thread as being a major faller

petition to add my son Adam Mascherin on the list because we own his rights until 2025 and it's f***ing funny

Petition accepted. Mascherin has been added to the first post.

I think most people believed he'd likely be a mid-round pick. The 3rd round would have been surprising, but the 4th to 5th round would not have been.

He's not your typical overage player in that he's the same age as Mavrik Bourque and Antonio Stranges. His production and performance were extremely impressive. He just dominated the OHL playoffs. I think the biggest knock on him has been skating.

Oh damn .... I missed this article I guess, but Scott Wheeler had Logan Morrison ranked 98th in the 2020 draft where he went undrafted. This is what he said about his chances of getting drafted this year.

He’s a gamer who always seems to play well — I still haven’t seen him play a bad game — and has a toolsy pro-style game that keeps him around the puck. Concerns about his skating and whether or not his processing would take the necessary steps forward resulted in him slipping through the cracks previously, but he assuaged both of those this year and I think they were overstated previously. He was so dominant this year that he shouldn’t pass through the draft for a third time. He looks like he’ll be a good AHLer at the very least and I’d strongly consider the high-floor bet with a mid-to-late pick.

Happy to see Matt Murray on the roster !

Got to be a great sign that he's going to be with Texas next year. Karow not attending makes me wonder if that opens the door for Gavin White to possibly play in Texas next year. He'll have to beat out Dawson Barteaux (a.k.a. John Klingberg's replacement).

Good sign for sure . Hopefully he keeps going where he left off last year .

I know he's not officially under contract yet, but I think it's OK to get hyped about Logan Morrison. Traditionally, teams don't really sign undrafted free agents until after the prospect tournaments and during training camp. It's also pretty rare for a guy to get the invite as a CHL player to development camp and not be at Traverse later in the summer. I'd say there's a fairly good chance Morrison goes to both Traverse and Dallas Stars training camp. Obviously, nothing is final until the contract is signed, but this is very positive.

Enjoy ... he's honestly the reason I watched so many Hamilton games this year. No knock on Grushnikov, but that was one hell of an exciting team, and this dude was the tip of the spear.

I know the jersey numbers don't mean a whole lot, but it's kinda interesting that Kyrou & White already have low numbers?

Kyrou wearing #6, White #5. Usually those are reserved for NHL guys no? Just weird that they're the only 2 guys wearing numbers below 30 lol. Guess it won't matter until they're under contract but still odd. Johnston would be too I assume since he's close but based on his junior number being 55 and Harley having that here, it's possible he straight up picked 53

They'll get their wierd numbers once they're attenting their first NHL training camp .

So, no Bourque, Grushnikov, Bichsel, Mayorov, Sjoberg, Ljungman, Oksentyuk.

Looks like Gaglardi didn't want to pay for those International flights (Sjoberg/Ljungman). Not sure why they passed on having Oksentyuk but Barteaux who is one year older and ECHL level is invited, perhaps Russia/Belarus potential issues.

Pretty underwhelming group size this year, high end prospects though. Not even sure why they have Group A and B with so few players.

Bourque and Grushnikov aren't there because they just finished the Memorial Cup. Bichsel, Sjoberg, and Ljungman are all missing for the same reason. Many European prospects that are representing their country at the U20 are missing their NHL team's camp because they wouldn't make it back in time for their country's U20 camp. I know Mysak is missing Montreal's camp for the same reason. RE: Mayorov, most European Dallas picks that don't attend the draft don't attend camp for Dallas. Their first camp is traditionally the following summer.

The only odd one really is Aksiantsiuk, but with all the turmoil with Russia/Belarus, it makes sense they may have just told him to spend time with his family because it would be too much of a headache trying to get him back and forth through customs more than once. It'll be more noteworthy I think if he's not at Traverse City.

I really hope we sign Morrison after camp/prospects tourney. Hopefully he won’t turn into another Fellhaber.

He could be less than an AHLer like Fellhaber ... not saying he won't, but it's a different situation totally. Fellhaber dominated the league as a 20/21-year-old. Logan Morrison turned 20 only 2 days ago. That was his 19-year-old season where he just dominated the OHL playoffs ... the exact same age as Mavrik Bourque and Antonio Stranges. His production is legitimate and something to be excited about for someone his age.

Even though he was as dominant as Johnston, Bourque, and Stankoven in the playoffs, realistically, he's at the same level of prospect as a Riley Daminai or Antonio Stranges. There's no guarantee any of them make it, but they are legitimate prospects compared to a Fellhaber where you're just sort of taking a chance. Overage production like Fellhaber's rarely means a ton. It's not an indicator of potential future success where the season Morrison just came off of really potentially is.
