I would prefer Stank to stay In Kamloops another year and get a shot at the Memorial Cup. Then again I live in Kamloops......
I’d at least give him the 9 games if he’s killing it in camp and preseason. He might not make it back to Kamloops though if he’s producing haha

I'd like to see all three get nine games though I'm more ambivalent about Bourque because he at least can go up and down whenever during the season so sending him directly to Texas would be fine. I hate the idea of not even trying with Stankoven. Kamloops is in the Memorial Cup they can do without him for nine games at least and we can all see how it goes. If he's meh, then send him back no harm no foul. If he looks good regardless of production I hope Nill has enough guts to stick with him.

Here yall go - the few videos I took today at development camp. Would've taken more but I didn't get a great view to video for the other drills/was only concerned with the shootout and mini 3v3 scrimmages (there were more than just this one they did quite a few all over the ice). It's not much but figured I'd share, twitter destroyed the quality tho

The talking in the video is from some girls next to me. Unfortunately they're very loud

I knew this was your twitter account! Lol

Got to be a great sign that he's going to be with Texas next year. Karow not attending makes me wonder if that opens the door for Gavin White to possibly play in Texas next year. He'll have to beat out Dawson Barteaux (a.k.a. John Klingberg's replacement).

CapFriendly still has Karow on the Coyotes' reserve list. Is that just a formality since he will not sign with the Coyotes before August 15th?

Crazy you posted this because I was thinking about Blumel while driving home. I wonder where he fits in their plans, he’s only 22 and I think he looks promising. We have a ton of forward prospects and I gotta think that Dallas cashes out on the value of at least one of them while it’s sky high. Bourque/Stranges are my guesses of guys you could throw in a package for an impact player.

I’m predicating this on the fact that there would have to be a pretty creative trade, or multiple trades to bring in anyone of relevance. If Seguin doesn’t come out producing I could see him being dealt.

Even if the lines are different, these are at least the likely 14 NHL forwards.

Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski
Marchment-Johnston-Seguin
Benn-Faksa-Glendening
Olofsson-Peterson-Gurianov
Studenic
Kiviranta

That leaves a pretty stacked forward unit for Texas.

Kero-Bourque-Blumel
Stranges-Damiani-Barber
Karlstrom-Dellandrea-McKenzie
Tufte-Back-Aksiantsiuk
Gardner
Caamano

That Dellandrea line was together to end the season and the playoffs. If you're going to have to play 2 rookies together, it seemed to make more sense to play a 20-year-old rookie with a guy that already has pro experience rather than put Stranges and Bourque on the same line. It also stands to reason to have Kero and Barber on separate lines as mentors.

Karlstrom feels like the only guy who you might get burned on waivers. Someone might get obsessed with Tufte's size and draft status, but he's in the Kero, Barber, Caamano, and Gardner group for I wouldn't blink if they got claimed. I'd also be shocked if any of those 4 were claimed though, and it would only be mildly surprising if someone took Tufte.

If Karlstrom has a strong camp, I could see it coming down to him and Studenic for who ultimately gets waived. If Kiviranta doesn't do much and both Studenic and Karlstrom have a strong camp, I do wonder if they'd waive Kiviranta. He was useful in the playoffs though so IDK.

Bottom line ... to @SwatKatz 's point, they have enough forwards to potentially shop one immediately, but I do think that's more of a summer proposition.

Before, with Bones still the coach, Dellandrea would have a better shot than Johnston even though Johnston has more talent. Now with a coach not completely stuck to a defensive game I see Johnston possibly making it as well.

I'm honestly not sure Johnston is worse than Dellandrea from a possession point of view. He's so responsible with the puck and makes lightning quick decisions.

Defensively, yeah. If they don't have the puck you probably want to get Johnston off the ice or you're going to get abused by a strength mismatch - but he's a highly skilled forechecker so I think he'll usually facilitate that partial change without conceding too much space.

I'm fine with revising our definition of prospect to "random players BG44 likes" because let's be honest they're gonna be prospects soon anyway.

I did some snooping and found the only teenage forward to play games for a Debbie coached team is Stefan Matteau as an 18 year old. Guys like Hertl, Meier, Krebs, Glass all got sent down without a 9 game tryout as teenagers.

Kulikov and Adam Larsson were two other players. Larsson is obviously a special case. Matteau and Kulikov are similar in that both were grown ass men at that age.

So looks like LoMo didn't get a contract? Or still pending you guys think?

They probably want to see him at training camp first

Dallas typically signs undrafted players after Traverse City but prior to training camp. Morrison has already confirmed he'll be attending Traverse City. That tournament will be deciding the factor typically. At a minimum, maybe it only buys him an invite to camp and a contract could come later potentially, but that tournament performance will be everything for him.

Traverse and Training Camp to come, players don't get contracts after a summer development camp.

Gotchya, rooting for him

This includes the defensive play that @SwatKatz pointed out that Grushnikov made just a few minutes before Hamilton won the game. Unfortunately, it also highlights some of my concerns with White. He gets rushed and mishandles the puck twice rather than getting the puck out of the zone. He was fantastic in the regular season when I watched, but there are some warts for sure that really stood out in the playoffs and Memorial Cup.

Any chance he might be ready for the NHL this year, for at least a partial season? We talk so much about Johnston, etc. making the jump but rarely consider this guy. It might be fitting if he plays his first game on Derian Hatcher's induction to the Stars HOF>

Doubtful. Even if he is ready, there isn’t a spot in the NHL for him. We may already see Harley struggle to get consistent playing time.

Best place for him is Hamilton still.

Even if he is ready for 6/7 duty in the NHL, I think you have to send him back to the OHL to give him a chance to develop an offensive side to his game.

I can't see Harley not making the big squad, barring him really messing up or getting injured. He might not be 100% ready, but I think the Stars need to bite the bullet with him and live with some mistakes because they really don't have too many more options. Yes, this would fall under the category of them realizing they are not competitive this year, and maybe a new coach doesn't want to take any chances. Especially Pete Debs, who is known for quick turnarounds, but still.....

For a while, we fans probably thought we were bottom half. I would have thought we would have been higher than 15th now, but he isn't too impressed with this year's draft. And maybe not with Johnston, Bourque, Stank, etc.
