He's not a Stars prospect, but this is pretty crazy. He played last night.

Bischel against Finland on. Very meh start, not many breakout passes just throwing it away instead and got beat by speed.

Very broken period overall for both teams. Contributes to players not looking their best.

Hi guys, quick question... what do you think about the chances of Oskar Back being a player for Dallas at some point?

The team isn't re-signing Glendening and maybe not Kivi so thats open spots in the bottom 6 . Bäck has a decent chance to make the team a bottom 6 defensive forward in the near future

Beautiful shift from Bichsel. Great defensive play on Kemell, great rush up the ice, wins the board battle and sets up the winner. A+ shift, doesn't get any better from a defenseman.
He did well on the PK today too. Blocking shots and taking away passing lanes. Nice win for the Swiss team

Glad that the dispute between Bichsel and the Swiss Federation got resolved, would've been ridiculous to linger on with hard feelings especially when the Swiss team needs him to be competitive with the big boys.

The big caveat to his play was that Finland lacked any sort of forecheck whatsoever. If they didn't make a play off their initial break-in they'd just retreat to the neutral zone and set up a trap. Easy to make zone exits when you have all the time and space in the world. USA on thursday will be a near impossible matchup for the Swiss but it will be interesting to see what Bischel can do vs a heavy American forecheck at least.

As a kid you gotta be smart about forechecking Bichsel though or it's gonna hurt. He destroyed some big men over in the SHL. Bichsel is taller than the US forwards and significantly heavier than most of them. And he does know how to use his size to his advantage. Bichsel isn't necessarily a volume hitter but he does have a mean streak and is gonna finish his checks if he gets a chance to do damage. Taking away the space from him is the way to stop Bichsel but a kid outside of his weight class is gonna have to watch out...with the puck as well. Especially on the smaller ice.

Oh, he'll be more then fine physically; he's a monster out there. It's just a time and space thing. USA is going to use their speed to get in passing lanes and force defenseman into puck handling errors in their own zone. Finland doesn't do that, they trap teams in the neutral zone and try to prevent against odd man rushes. It's just a harder challenge for a defenseman, not saying he can't do it.

If I was the US, I'd target the forwards, not the defenseman. On defense, Dionicio is probably the weak link but the other guys are usually very very solid. Not necessarily gonna provide a lot of offense but they're solid. The forwards are probably much more giveaway prone. We also saw that in the summer tournament.

I noticed this the other day.

So I finally finished watching the game now and boy was Bichsel ever in Kemell's face all night long. My suspicion is that Kemell was far from 100% but it's still impressive how Bichsel dominated him at will and essentially took him out of the game. While doing that, Bichsel was still able to create offense when Switzerland needed it the most. That was a fantastic game from Bichsel indeed.

Not sure I totally agree. I thought it was the Finnish coach that shut down Kemell most of the game, he was the 13th forward and didn't really play as much as you'd expect. Also, the only error I remember from Bischel all game was on a failed tie up off a faceoff in the 1st period when Kemell broke contain and got a scoring chance in tight on the short side.

Kemell played over 14mins including OT which is a lot considering his poor performance. I don't think he was fully healthy.
