On 32 thoughts there was an interesting discussion about Connor Bedard and a potential trade to Kamloops since Kamloops is guaranteed to be in the Memorial Cup this year. Regina Pats coach was furious when he was asked about this by journalists.

Regina despite having Bedard is a %.500 team and i would think the WHL and the CHL have major interest in showcasing Bedards talents in the premier CHL tournament before he leaves for the NHL next season.

Only team that is guaranteed to be there is Kamloops so.

I know Bedard is very talented but why is he not knocked for his size? 5’ 9” for Bedard and 5’ 8” for stankoven is pretty much the same size and yet these fourms knock stankoven for being too smal…who also won player of the year last year over Bedard.

Stankoven is more like 5’6” in person. But he’s stocky so he’ll be ok.

So we have Stankoven, Kyrou, White, Arcuri, Martino, Roulette, Seminoff, Ertel all having great seasons in junior. Ertel has the lowest points per game at 0.96, everyone else is ppg or higher.

Was hoping for a bit more production from Bourque in the AHL, but I have no clue how Texas is this year.

I'm very excited to see Bichsel play in the world juniors, he has 52 SHL games played in his career and his still only 18

+1. I hope all those moves, passes and shots translate to the NHL, and I am hopeful that they will be. If he looks just half as good at the NHL level (which is probably typical against better competition) he will be Gurianov's replacement at second line wing next year.
God you know who he reminds me of. Patrick Kane. Which is a ridiculous comparison because Kane is a future HOFer but the otherworldly vision and hands to pull off quite frankly unplayable moves is just wow. He could slot right with the #11 next year with Seguin and Marchment. I don't know that I've ever been more excited about the now/future of this team. We deserve this after years floundering.

Yea I can see that, especially in how he stick handles. Both guys are also elite at using their body to shield the puck and maintain possession. Crosby was another good comparison (style ONLY) in how he just seems to do every little thing right.

Damn this is a ridiculous highlight reel for one game...that first clip is just absurd. He's obviously wayyyyy too good for junior hockey.

Not really ever keeping up with prospects or the process- this has been in the back of my mind reading this thread off and on. At what point is it time for him to take the next step? Kinda feels like a waste of time to keep him there if he isn’t being challenged.

He's getting to play in the biggest junior tournament this year as captain of his hometown team the Kamloops Blazers that host the memorial cup this year. Yeah he's too good for the regular season WHL but this extra year to me is mostly about the memorial cup.

Yep. There's really nowhere else for him to go aside from junior hockey this year; he's still only 19 so can't play in the AHL, and he certainly wasn't ready for the NHL this season.
