Kyrou was benched for the entire 1st period. Some sort of team violation (late, curfew, etc.) is the best guess, but he's picked up a primary assist and a goal early in the 2nd. He's up to 17 points, only 3 back of top scoring D.

I wore 15 as a kid because for some reason Dave Gagner was my favorite Dallas Star in the early days of my hockey fandom. Will Kyrou be the next one to carry the torch? (Who was the last significant Stars player to wear that number? Am I just drunkenly forgetting someone?)

I don't know if this is normal for Kyrou, but I don't love that he's not the puck carrier on the PP. If he touches the puck in the neutral zone on an entry, he immediately dumps it cross-corner. It's been an automatic clear with the exception of one time.

2 guys I really enjoyed .... Langenbrunner and Hagman, but you can't forget the legends ... Glennie, Nemeth, and the king of falling down ... Comeau.

The one I forgot but looked up was apparently Perttu Lindgren wore it as well.

Yeah, I remembered Langenbrunner immediately after posting my comment. He was one of my favorites as well and definitely contributed to that being the number of my childhood. He was great during the '99 cup run.

Mintyukov has been getting a ton of recognition for his scoring this season ... 20 points in 15 games. He was off yesterday, and Kyrou played his 15th game, picking up his 18th and 19th points on assists.

Kyrou seemed like a long shot to make the WJC, but he was probably always going to camp. Clarke is probably staying with LA after 9 games, but he seems like a guy that could easily get sent to WJC and then returned to the OHL before the 40-game mark. Kyrou has improved his chances of making the WJC, but I still don't think he's a slam dunk.

Kyrou likely going to camp and potentially making the team definitely hurts his chances of keeping pace with Mintyukov for the season, but that WJC experience would be invaluable.

He seems to have turned it on after not getting called up (Nothing he could do ... it was the salary cap, but it's not like his play called for it either). He was great in both games against the Moose it sounds like. I hope he earns himself another NHL chance and off the Dallas Stars roster to create some cap relief.

I could see someone convincing themselves to give him a chance over a lesser known should they run into injuries. Dallas desperately needs the cap space.

Dobby was quite good yesterday really. 1st goal Damiani blew his coverage and the Moose dude made a nice shot. The goal in OT was again blown coverage and he had just made enother pretty good save to keep them in it. The Moose goalie was absolutely LIGHTS OUT. Some thoughts about the prospects:

Damiani - Invisible. I think he's busting

Bourque - EXCELLENT. Dude should have had 4 or 5 points. You can tell he knows how to keep the puck for that extra half second that allows a lane or play to open up. Most dangerous player on either team. I was also impressed how he is not afraid to work. I contrast it to when I saw Nick Robertson play in the AHL recently. Making skilled plays, but wasn't really working for it and doing alot of cheating

Karlstrom - Super impressed with him. Can muck and was making some skilled plays. This guy could play in the NHL in the right situation

Blumel - Got robbed of a goal but he wasn't terribly noticeable otherwise. He did make some real nifty plays along the boards under pressure to get control of the puck which lead to some nice passes

Back - I focused on him quite a bit. Definitely a very intelligent player and can make skilled plays. I dunno, maybe he is a Faksa replacement since we consider Faksa nothing but a 4th line C

Harley - Most disappointing player of the day. Wasn't skating, made a few unnecessary panic passes that lead to bad turnovers. Not even the delicious popcorn I was eating eased the pain of my discouragement. Thomas if you are reading this - git gud

Peterson - Honestly, he had a very good game. Again, robbed of a goal or two

Tufte - I can see why this guy probably looked so good dominating high school. He can skate, is f***ing huge and honestly made alot of good plays. His decision making probably isn't quite quick enough for the NHL, which is too bad because he has unique tools

Barber - OK not a prospect but he was good, it's the second North Star/Star I know of with the last name Barber and his moustache game is on point
