Prospect Production Update, Nov 7th: NA juniors

* The blueliners remain the highlight of the of this current class. There are 6 defensemen with 1.00 ppg or more scoring rate. There are 7 defensement with 0.80 ppg or more scoring rate, three are from the NCAA.
*It's a concern that we don't have one NCAA forward at 1.00 ppg rate or higher, but have three NCAA defensemen who are scoring at 1.00 ppg rate or higher. RW Colangelo and C Kukkonen are creeping up though.
* 2021 forwards making an impact with C Gaucher (1.13 ppg), LW Hvidston (1.00 ppg), and C King (2.00 ppg - injured).
* Positive goalie update: Alexander improved his overall production. Still not great, but it's moving in the positive direction.

Prospect Production Update: Nov 7, Pro side NA and across the pond

* McTavish played 3 games at center and earned 3 points (vs SJ, Van, and SJ).
* Regenda has been the most productive Gulls prospect since being sent down to the AHL, a ppg player.
* Dostal finally reach the .900 mark in recent games. Ericksson Ek also improve his mark.
* Is the AHL team that bad that most of the team are in the negative +/- stat?

With the way we're putting kid gloves on McTavish as well as yanking him from wing to center to wing, it might be possible that McTavish could be available for the WJC since we're in this development year. Can you imagine McTavish in that lineup?!
I suppose it’s not impossible, but I don’t think it’s very likely. There has been a bit of an overreaction to his start, I think he is getting along relatively fine for a rookie. Even with his “underwhelming” start he is tied for 2nd in rookie scoring, 4th on the team in scoring, 8th in shots (about 2 shots per game). I know you aren’t critiquing his impact but I think it would be hard for the team to choose to send him down at this juncture imo. Plus he’s done what he set out to do at this tournament, no unfinished business for him there.

Playing time per position, points, and lines

Wing: 10 games, 13:42 ATOI, 4 pts (0g, 4a), top-9
Center: 3 games, 10:35 ATOI, 3 pts (1g, 2a), 4th line

*McTavish's 4th line: Jones-McTavish-Leason

Before switching to center, McTavish went invisible after the first game of the season. McTavish had a 2 point night in the first game. I thought going slow with McTavish was the correct idea seeing how invisible he was. Then the switch to center and McTavish came to life on both sides of the ice. Unfortunately, that was short-lived and he was returned to wing in the last game on the third line with Lundy-Silf.

If McTavish didn't take off at center, then I'd say he was underwhelming. The fact he took off at center, it makes it seems that McTavish is far more comfortable playing center than wing. A similar occurrence happened when McTavish was put on the wing at the Olympics and was very non-descript.

The WJC-20 is played between Dec 26th to Jan 5th. There will be preliminary games played before then and players will probably be recalled a week beforehand. That's about 18 Ducks games before the WJC-20 gets called up. If the Ducks are dead set on bouncing McTavish around between wing and center as well as pinning him in a bottom-6 role, then I'm thinking the WJC is the only place McTavish will get an extended amount of games playing center.

There's nothing to win with the Ducks this season. McTavish can be playing in a playoff atmosphere and try to earn another gold medal if he's being limited playing in the NHL by design.

The sticking point is how McTavish is being utilized, or rather underutilized by the Ducks, on the possibility of being available for the WJC.

Noticed some similarities between Hvidston and Cirelli:|

Good but unfilled frame when drafted
Not too good production pre-draft
Late birthdays (young)
Touted for 2-way play and both are centermen
Tracking to be a PPG player D+1 season

Cirelli had a very good memorial cup performance just before the draft that hinted he might be a good one. Hvidston doesn't even have a playoff experience in the WHL. But he also has a bigger frame and was playing in U18's.

Still bullish on Hvidston, but I think it's a great pick. Will see in a few years I guess. And he's 1 day younger in draft year than Zellweger and Terry. He has some good comparisons :laugh:

Luneau has a primary assist.

Box Score for Gat 4, RN 6

Luneau
Shots = 4
Dangerous shot = 0
Plus/minus = +0
Hits = 3

Warren
Shots = 1
Dangerous shot = 0
Plus/minus = -2
Hits = 2
Kinda weird seeing Luneau outhitting Warren. I'm liking the extra stats they put in the game box score for the Q. The other two league sites aren't sharing Dangerous Shots and Hits.

Luneau was given a major penalty for interference, not sure if he was thrown out.

Extremely pastujov to skate a total of 10 feet and score. He's not afraid to be in the crease though, that's a good thing.

Idk that he has the edginess of perry…. But his toolset seems fairly similar(stylistically)
