The Remparts are pretty much stacked on offense. In most teams Gaucher would be a first liner and on the first PP but in Quebec he’s on the 2nd line and on the 2nd PP. He’d probably have more points elsewhere.

You can’t only rely on points to judge him. His game is so much more than that.
I mean if a team is stacked on offense you should score more? I'm sure Terry rather play with offensive players than his current situation.

Yes and no. The offense is spreaded because of ice time. When you’re relied upon to bring the offense, you have more chances (O-zone starts, 1st PP, etc)

Bolduc (9+15) - Rochette (7+17) - Roy (8+12)
Malatesta (12+6) - Gaucher (9+8) - Savoie (4+9)

Gaucher really has a good season so far.

I don't know. Teams have these stats but the QMJHL doesn't keep them on its website.

Last year, someone posted TOI on the QMJHL board. Since Gaucher has been playing on the same units as last year (2nd line, 2nd PP, 1st PK), TOI probably looks similar. Only Frenette isn't back this season and Roy has been moved from Gaucher's line to Rochette's.

F Theo Rochette19:17
F Conor Frenette18:33
F Zachary Bolduc18:22
F Nathan Gaucher17:57
F Pier-Olivier Roy17:02
F James Malatesta16:19

I think Gaucher's skill set is also not pushing him to the first line/1st PP. When I have seen him, I think he has limited hands and limited offensive awareness. But it should be clear that we didn't pick him to be the top6 center... I'd probably be excited with someone like Snuggerud at this pick, but Gaucher should be a good, important player. No doubt he will take 4-5 years to start coming into his own, no matter how quickly he debuts in the NHL.

I think it's also important to not view Gaucher as only a 2C in the Q and underrate how talented Theo Rochette is, who was a very well known/touted player before even entering the Q. I haven't caught any of Quebec's games this year but I can only imagine an overaged Rochette is right up there as the best offensive players in that league right now. Very stiff competition for that offensive role for Gaucher, who is definitely not being wasted as a premier matchup center.

Quebec is 14-1-1 for a reason. Their 2nd line would be a 1st line on most Q teams.

Gaucher is the best of the league on faceoffs at 62%. The player that comes second is at 60%. He’s also a huge reason why Quebec’s PK is first in the league at more than 91%. He’s top 5 in shots on goal and probably in hits. He’s on pace for a 42 goals and 80 points season.

Really, his impact on the game is everywhere and that’s why he went in the first round.

He's also pretty good at rock paper scissors. :)

Haven't seen those. Know where to find them?
It was just a short clip. It's just stuck in my head because I could have done better lol probsbly just a bad drill for him though lol. I'll try to find it later today.

EDIT Found it. As I said it's just one small clip of literally one drill but it's really bad imo lol

Oh, I remember this. Yeah, just one drill. But I don't think he's super fast or anything. In the NHL he will have to work real hard to have any physical or speed advantage.

He finished 2nd behind Warren in the skating drill at the CHL Top Prospects Skills Contest.

He skates like Guhle (although different position), great north-south (actually fastest on their teams) but mobility, agility east and west needs improving.

Gaucher improving just makes me love the pick more and more. Can’t believe there are people who didn’t like the pick.
