Another loss for Guelph last night, this one against a struggling Sudbury club, puts the Storm to a no doubt very disappointing 4-12-2 on the year, just a couple games shy of being one third of the way through the season. Seeing some speculation on their boards that it may be time to sell.
Saginaw on the other hand, are off to a great start, perhaps somewhat surprising based on last season. With the league looking to be fairly wide open for the taking, and their best player (Mintyukov) being in almost surely his final year of junior, it would make a lot of sense for them to really make a run for it this year.
One thing the Spirit lack is high end offensive players up front, and that's where I think a Pastujov to Saginaw deal probably starts to make a lot of sense. He'd be getting to finish off his junior career playing back close to home, and fits a big need for a team that should probably be looking at going all in this year.
There's other teams in the league that will undoubtedly be looking to load up, like any year, but I actually think this one may be one of the more obvious fits assuming Guelph does indeed decide to sell.
