I wish Scouching didn’t delete his YouTube channel. Was Hvidston one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in his draft class? Really interested to see how his development will work out

Both the rush and the play before where he was using his body to seal off the boards are very impressive for an 18 year old playing his first games in the AHL. Says a lot about his confidence and awareness.

I hate getting excited about players that are still years away lol
He has to go back to Jr for another year doesn't he? It's a bit frustrating that he can play the AHL at the end od the year then has to go back to Jr.

Ya Hvidston was like 5 days from being a 2023 draftee. If he was in the 2023 draft he would likely be a late 1st rounder.

Terry written all over him.

He's scouting profile before being drafted was a defensive, shutdown forward. After being drafted and participating with the Ducks' rookie events (dev camp, rookie tourney exhibition, and camp), Hvidston gained confidence to push his talents more. This season has been a revelation to his offensive game as he has doubled his scoring production from last season.

2022-23
Hvidston: 59 games and 65 points, 1.10 ppg
Gaucher: 44 games and 46 points, 1.05 ppg

Hvidston is a Sept. 11th, 2004 baby, just before the 2023 NHL draft cutoff. Gaucher is a Nov 6, 2003 birth, which makes Gaucher a year older than Hvidston.

If Hvidston can continue to improve, even at half the trajectory, then his stock and ceiling are rising.

Great to see Hvidston not looking out of place in the A. Even if he could play there next season, I think it's best for him to take on more of an offensive role in Juniors. He already plays a safe pro game but theres more there, 2-way 2C potential for sure. Kind of gives me Jordan Staal vibes

Agreed. I think going to the AHL at 18 would be a huge disservice to him. He obviously has room to grow in juniors.

I don't comprehend the impatience with Hvidston. He's a defensive forward who finally has tapped into his offense. At 18 years old, Hvidston is a year younger than most prospects drafted in his draft year such as Mintyukov and Gaucher. He's 6'2 and 165 lbs. Hvidston can use an extra year to not only develop his body, but also continue to work on his defense, offense, and faceoffs.

Playing a few games in the AHL isn't equal to playing a full season in the AHL. The grind against playing bigger and faster competition will wear on the youngster. Getting a cup of tea at this level gives Hvidston some exposure of what to expect as well as how much more to his game he needs to improve to play at this level.

Getting a preview in the AHL at the end of a CHL prospects' season is normal, provided there are AHL games to be played left. Hvidston is here b/c his team didn't make the CHL playoffs. We have many other prospects whose teams made the playoffs and cannot join the AHL club. Zellweger was able to get one AHL game last year.

Sean Tschigerl should be making his way to the Gulls now that his playoff season is over with the Hitmen.

Regarding Logan Morrison, Mr PV, you have work to do. Even if it is just for San Diego. Could be tempting with our forward pool.
