Roster Notes: for tonights game against Utica

There are just a few minor changes to Belleville’s lineup from Friday’s win. Troy Mann will shuffle the lines slightly, moving Jake Lucchini up to play with Egor Sokolov and Angus Crookshank, while Rourke Chartier drops down alongside Cole Reinhardt and Viktor Lodin. The other changes are on the back-end, where Xavier Bernard draws back in for Jacob Larsson, who was called back up to Ottawa and Kevin Mandolese starts in goal. He’ll be backed up by Antoine Bibeau.

Injury Report - Dec 3 2022

Who to Watch:

Senators forward Jarid Lukosevicius had his first career AHL hat trick on Friday and tallied the last time the Sens and Comets met, as well. Despite only scoring four times so far this season, the Squamish, BC native does have a knack for finding the net. He scored 59 goals in 116 Junior A games in the BCHL, before moving on to the University of Denver, where he put up 62 goals in 158 games, winning an NCAA Championship in 2016-17. Fellow ECHL call-up Tyler Boucher will also look to have another strong game, after adding three assists in Friday’s win over Syracuse.

For the Comets, Reilly Walsh brings a three-game point streak into tonight’s contest. The third round draft pick to New Jersey in 2017 (81st overall) has 10 points in 17 games played (two goals, eight assists) this season, including an assist and three shots on goal in Friday’s loss to Toronto. Wingers Jack Dugan and Nolan Stevens each have points in back-to-back games, with Stevens scoring on Friday.

In Russian, Igor and Yegor are different names, coming from different languages.
Yegor originates from the Greek name George. Igor - from the Old Norse name Ingvar.

Sokolov's name is Yegor (same as Chinakhov and Sharagovich). Confusion is probably caused by the Russian passport office that transliterated Soko's name letter-by-letter Egor, and now Canadian announcers make it sound like Igor. It's pronounced as Yegor though, as in KanYE.

haha ... Confusion is caused by age, I knew his name was Yegor & for some unknown reason I went with the horror picture Igor with the hunch back & wrote his name wrong. Sadly, I suspect I will be guilty of that many times more in future as the memory slowly gets worse. Bonne journée la.

PS - isn't Kanye just YE now? Maybe Yegor will be too.

Belleville Sens sign defenceman Jack Dougherty to professional tryout offer

Roster Notes: for tonight's game against the Marlies

There’s a bit of fluctuation in the Belleville lineup with a shuffle of roster moves. The Senators released forward Brandon Cutler from his professional tryout on Monday and reassigned defenceman Zachary Massicotte to the team’s ECHL affiliate in Allen, Texas. Meanwhile, a familiar face returns to Belleville as defender Jack Dougherty re-joins the team on a PTO, from the ECHL Orlando Solar Bears, where he had seven points (one goal, six assists) and a +3 rating in 19 games this season. There’s also some good news on the injury front, with Goaltender Mads Sogaard returning from a ten-game layoff. He’ll back up Antoine Bibeau, who starts in Toronto for the second straight game. Kyle Betts also returns, after missing nine games to injury.

Who to Watch:

Senators defenceman Lassi Thomson has had assists in two-of-three games since returning from an NHL call-up to Ottawa. The smooth-skating, 22 year-old, Finnish first-rounder, has 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 18 games with Belleville this season. Meanwhile, Jarid Lukosevicius was the only Sen to score on Sunday, notching his fifth of the season and fourth of the weekend.

Alex Steeves is one-of-two Marlies riding five game point streaks, with two goals, three assists over that span. The other is former Sens captain Logan Shaw, who has one goal, four assists and sits sixth in AHL scoring.
