After injuries to Philippe Daoust and Kristians Rubins in Utica on Wednesday, the Senators have made two more roster moves ahead of tonight’s game. Defenceman Zachary Massicotte has been recalled from the Sens ECHL affiliate in Texas, the Allen Americans, while forward Brandon Cutler has been signed to a professional tryout offer from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies.

Injury Report - Nov 25 2022

Who to Watch:

Senators’ defenceman Jacob Larsson is playing in his 150th career AHL game tonight. The 25-year-old from Ljungby, Sweden, has also dressed in 168 NHL games, splitting time over the last few seasons between the Anaheim Ducks (NHL) and the San Diego Gulls (AHL). He’s also played three NHL games for Ottawa since joining the Senators this past summer. Larsson has three assists and a minus-10 rating in 13 games this season with Belleville.

Rocket forward Rem Pitlick has five points (one goal, four assists) in six games since joining the Rocket from the Montreal Canadiens, where he appeared in seven NHL games this season. Pitlick was claimed by the Habs off waivers from Minnesota last season and spent the entire 2021-22 campaign in the NHL, registering 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 66 games. His father Lance has ties to the Senators organization as well, as a former alternate captain, who played 228 games on the Sens blueline between 1994 and 1999.

Roster Notes: for tonight's rematch with Laval

The Senators managed to avoid any further injuries last night, so Troy Mann will go with a similar lineup tonight. Changes include defenceman Zachary Massicotte making his American Hockey League debut, replacing Xavier Bernard, and Antoine Bibeau Starting in goal, after relieving Logan Flodell at 8:18 of the second period last night.

Injury Report:

INJURY REPORT NOV 26

Who to Watch:

Senators power forward Scott Sabourin has had an interesting start to the season, to say the least. The Ottawa native has racked up 110 penalty minutes, breaking the team’s single season PIM record in just 16 games, surpassing Patrick Sieloff who held the previous record at 108. When he’s not in the box, Sabourin continues to be an impact player for the Senators, throwing momentum-changing hits and keeping opponents accountable. He’s also added eight points (three goals, five assists) offensively, including a goal last night that helped to get Belleville back in the game, after trailing by tree.

Laval defender Justin Barron is coming off an impressive three-point (two goals, one assist) performance last night. The 20 year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia was originally drafted 25th overall by Colorado in 2020, before being acquired by Montreal in a trade last season. The form Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) captain has 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 19 games played and is likely to be a factor in tonight’s game as well.

What a crazy game. Dominated on the shot clock but killed the special teams battle.

2PP and a shortie plus and empty netter.

Very happy to see Angus stay hot and score 2 tonight. Let him marinate down there and keep scoring in different ways so when he comes up he has confidence to play his game at NHL level.

This year has sucked from prospects to AHL to NHL but he is one of the few highlights.

Roster Notes: for tonights game with Syracuse FREE on AHL TV

It’s hoped the Senators’ offence will receive a boost as forward Viktor Lodin returns from a three-game break due to illness. Lodin has six points (three goals, three assists) in eight games so far this season, which has also been impacted by an ankle injury. With Lodin back, tryout hopeful Brandon Cutler will be scratched. Defender Lassi Thomson has also been returned from the NHL, while fellow blueliner Nikita Zaitsev was recalled to Ottawa after playing three AHL games for the Senators.

Who to Watch:

Rourke Chartier has been the most consistent Senator of late, notching eight points (four goals, four assists) over a six-game point streak. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has been a clutch player as well, scoring three game-winning goals this season, which has him ranked 7th in the American Hockey league in that category. Goaltender Antoine Bibeau will make his 10th appearance and 6th start for Belleville, coming off his record-breaking 49-save performance last weekend.

For the Crunch, defender Darren Raddysh and forward Alex Barre-Boulet are 2nd and 3rd in the AHL points race with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) and 24 points (four goals, 20 assists), respectively. Barre-Boulet has had considerable success against the Senators this season, with four assists in two games played and a total of 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 19 career games against Belleville.
