Roster Notes:

There will likely be a bit of added focus on the Belleville blue line tonight, as Nikita Zaitsev joins the team, after clearing waivers from the Ottawa Senators last week. The 31-year-old brings a solid resume into the Friendly City, which includes 405 NHL games split between Toronto and Ottawa, along with a IIHF World Junior Championship title in 2010/11, a pair of IIHF World Championship bronze medals and multiple KHL all-star selections. With Zaitsev drawing in, Xavier Bernard will be a healthy scratch. Jarid Lukosevicus will rejoin the lineup in place of Matt Wedman, who blocked a shot with his foot last night and left the game. Logan Flodell will make his first start of the season, after coming into Wednesday’s game in relief of Antoine Bibeau, who will back up tonight.

Who to Watch:

Newly-acquired forward Brennan Saulnier has made an immediate impact for Belleville, notching three assists in his first two games. The Halifax, Nova Scotia native has fit in nicely on the Sens “identity line”, alongside Scott Sabourin and Cole Cassels and Scott Sabourin, after being traded from the Laval Rocket earlier this week.

A familiar name to some local hockey fans, Crunch defender Declan Carlile has had a strong start to his first full pro season. The former Wellington Dukes standout has three points in his last three games, including a goal and an assist in Syracuse’s win over Springfield earlier this week.

I love Greig's game, I really do, but this kid is quickly getting a reputation for being injury prone. It's a bit unfair, I know, in that you can't tough your way through a concussion, separated shoulder, etc., but it is also true that your NHL career will be awfully short if you can't stay off the injured list.

It's really disappointing and feel terrible for him.

Crookshank the same as both were starting to be pretty consistent contributors.

Greig is on that Logan Brown curve - spending half your time on the IR.

Belleville Sens sign forward Matthew Boucher to professional tryout offer.

Roster Notes: for tonight's game with Utica

The revolving door that is the Sens roster continues to turn today. While Kevin Mandolese is back from injury and set to start tonight, Ridly Greig did not make the trip, as he deals with an upper body ailment. Viktor Lodin also stayed back in Belleville, as he’s out sick. Because of that, the Senators have signed Matthew Boucher to another PTO this week. The Sens also swapped defenders with the parent club in Ottawa this week, with Lassi Thomson heading up to the AHL and Jacob Larsson coming back to Belleville.

Who to Watch:

With a goal last Saturday, Senators forward Egor Sokolov has become the franchises new all-time leading goal scorer, surpassing Drake Batherson’s record of 38 goals. The 22-year-old from Yekaterinburg, Russia has been developing into a more well-rounded player this season, putting more of a focus on his play off the puck, but has still scored five times, with 11 assists.

Comets winger Andreas Johnsson has been red hot lately, notching 11 points over his last seven games played. The 28-year-old from Sweden was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2013 and has played close to 250 NHL games, along with 137 games in the AHL, which included a Calder Cup title with the Toronto Marlies.
