Byram would really help them out of their cap crunch too. They could trade or let Dumba walk. Don't want to help a division rival out of the hole they are in for the next three years.

The guy who’s playing 3C on the Wild, a team with no good C’s.

Eriksson Ek is definitely a #2C. 20+ goals and about 50 points with excellent defense.

Wouldn't trade Byram for him though. Bo has a much higher ceiling, maybe he doesn't get there but I wanna see how peak Byram looks on the Avs.

19 years old and being mentioned to make Team Canada at the Olympics. He is not overrated.

This interview with Armstrong was in Feb, 2021.

I don't agree with this. Tons of people including me were down on him after his draft season. There was a decent amount of people who didn't think he had 1D/star upside which for a 4th overall pick speaks for itself. After the concussion issues some people thought he could even retire. The expectations were pretty low.

I actually think Byram is rated pretty fairly. Most people realize he has durability issues that could prevent him from reaching his ceiling but I think it's hard to argue that if he stays healthy his upside isn't that of a 1D. Not guaranteed he gets there but the skating/instincts are absolutely elite.

On here that just isn't true at all. I can name on one hand the posters who don't think Bo has 1D upside. Funny enough they are the posters that tend to be the most consistently accurate on here.

As for the 2nd bold... That's just more proof he's overrated. He does not have 1D upside. Especially with Colorado.

I personally don't think anybody here is that consistently accurate. Everyone has there misses and hits. You can list a poster and I bet I can find tons of times where they were laughably wrong. I mean I was absolutely one of the people who didn't think Byram had 1D upside and there was a bunch more. Especially after his underwhelming rookie season and concussion issues.

I get not thinking he'll be a 1D but I think your underrating him if you think the upside isn't there. That if he stays healthy and everything comes together he doesn't have the skillset to be a star defensemen. I'm obviously assuming people can apply context to a players situation. Like Malkin was a 2C but everyone knows he was a 1C. Kadri was a 1C last year in the regular season even tho he was a 2C with us. I think most people will be able to understand his point production will be impacted not playing PP1/playing behind Makar. A team can have two 1D's.

Lol if you watch Byram during last year's SCF and don't think that guy has 1D upside... sheesh.

Will he reach it? Maybe not with Cale here. But that's why it's called upside. He has a chance to become that defensemen.

Feels like people often forget this kid just turned 21. Cale Makar was 21 during his rookie season in 19-20 and was nowhere close to a finished product, yet for some reason people look at Bo and think "nope, can't possibly get any better."

Out of Bo/Toews/Girard he is EASILY the most untouchable when it comes to trades unless you're getting a stupid haul in return, I'm talking Jack Hughes level player back.

I don't miss Jost one bit, but good thin he still gets a chance.
