AJ has single handedly made me actively despise the whole DNVR crew. He talks like he’s an all time great player and has all this knowledge about the game, but at best all he is, is a talking head. He carries himself with a much higher level of self-worth than I can feasibly see him having.
As a bigger dude myself, I wish I had the confidence that dude has and good for him to having that going on. Because I know I suffer from it.

I’ve watched a couple minutes of their podcasts? I’ve got better things to do with my time.

AJ is good when he's not on a high. When he screams and has a "f*** y'all" attitude he's insufferable. That said he makes that show, without him it would be extra bland and I'd never, ever listen (as opposed to like once a week now).

What we need is Scott Parker to run a podcast out of his barber shop once a week. Bring in old players for a haircut and shoot-the-shit.

But then again, he can rub folks the wrong way too. I'm not sure he's actually the right call after all. Perfect job for a podcast though.

People are generally harsher critics of themselves, than the actual way people perceive them mate. Personality wise, I can see quite easily you're top shelf.

People are almost always better than they think or believe.

If you're you, I can tell you from the outside looking in, people will love you, friend :)

Talks him up like he's Lawson Crouse or something!

I watch DNVR fairly regularly as it’s pretty much the only half decent Avs pod, but it can be hard to watch/listen at times.

AJ can bring some decent insight but he’s gotta always spout his opinion as fact and blast others for not agreeing with him, kind of like the whole thing he had to try to start with Baugh a couple weeks ago. Like someone said already, he seems cool to shoot the shit with but he needs to check his attitude and emotions instead of needing to die on the hill of his opinion.

Rudo has some good knowledge but it doesn’t come across well a lot because he always seems like he’s pretty drunk compared to the others. Other than that, he’s fine.

Meghan is probably the best of them. She’s smart and has really gotten a good grasp on the game. The only issue is she can barely get a word in during a podcast. It’s almost like she has to wait for permission in between AJ and Rudo talking to finally say anything. It would be nice for her to have a bigger role in the discussions because she has good things to say usually.

Jesse I think has the most hockey knowledge of all of them and can add a ton to discussions because he’s going out and doing post game interviews. Too bad he’s not there very much because he tends to be on some sort of assignment.

And finally Blais. He’s just kind of there, mostly just hanging out and says something once in a blue moon.

I like DNVR well enough, but it would just be nice if there was a bit more professionalism from AJ and Rudo. Not saying it needs to be a boring, bland, scripted podcast, but FFS at least act like you can carry on a conversation without tripping out over a disagreement or the 2 big heads thinking it’s all about them when there’s 2 other people with mics in front of them.

Been a DNVR stan since BSN and you pretty much nailed it. It seems like the feedback about talking over Meghan finally reached them because every time she and someone else speak at the same time they've been deferring to her a lot more which has been a great change. I agree with a lot of the complaints about the DNVR crew as a whole, but I will always respect the way they created a passionate, grassroots, multi-team, multi-media company. I have complaints, but their lack of care is not one of them (unlike every other major outlet in Denver). The playoff watchalongs and bar reactions were legendary.

As for other pods, I've scoured the depths of Spotify to find any and all variations of a decent Avs podcasts and while most are absolute dogshit, (aside from DNVR) I've enjoyed Hockey Mountain High and Between the Pipes. I'd recommend subscribing to those ones if anyone is craving more content.

It's pretty crazy that every single week someone sponsoring HF is posting on our forum with an Avs podcast a no one, ever, seems to have listened to it. Or at least has anything to say about it.

The name of the podcast eliminates it.

I personally don’t mind DNVR, but I find there post game content is typically not worth the listen. Half the time people are screaming in the background, they’re talking about how they hate shot X and Rudo is on his way to blackout. Now there’s obviously a bit of a difference between listening along during the post game and listening at 8am on a Monday, but it’s usually a tough listen regardless imo.

For example the Barn Burner Podcast that is Flames based is, in my opinion one of the better hockey podcasts I have listened to. Part of that is because they are all former employees from the Fan960 morning show, but they both talk intelligently about the game and shoot the shit about food and other sports.

Almost any podcast with more than 3 people tends to fall flat and the loudest voices just tend to take over. Kind of a miracle that 'How Did This Get Made?' actually works in every episode. They should trim it down and Rudo should lay off the booze.

I really wish we had a podcast like that. Like good audio, professionalism, good analysis, no screaming or drunk stuff. Something that sounds like it's from people who are doing this for a living and not some fans doing it for fun.

It’s really too bad because I think there’s room for any good hockey podcast to do well, but in particular for the Avs. DNVR is fine, but I think they should look to other podcasts to help refine different aspects. Now Barn Burner gets guests such as Frank Seravelli, CFL players and former NHL players and each group shoots the shit much more and let’s it fly. Now there is screaming, but it’s at each other after terrible takes hahah.

And shit if they’re gonna do post game let them open up and allow individuals to come in online and have conversations with them about the game.

It sounds like a QAnon slogan.

Yeah I gave that one a shot despite everyone rightfully shitting on it due to the host posting a new thread for every episode for a while here. Not sure what he was thinking lol. It was intolerable trying to listen to him struggle to keep a conversation going with himself. It did get a little better after adding a co-host, but I'd still equate it to another vanilla, very surface-level pod like Locked on Avalanche; the kind of dialog you'd expect from a generic fan interaction on Facebook or twitter.

Both Hockey Mountain High and Between the Pipes fit that bill. All four hosts from those shows are credentialed as far as I know (BtP is Altutude radio's own post-game content). HMH also has Peter Baugh on fairly regularly.
